Mrs. Seabrook's Weekly Update
October 13-16, 2020
This week we:
- read Get The Egg and focused our review on short e sounds
- identified and discussed the beginning blends /fl/, /gr/, /gl/, /st/, /bl/, /cl/, /dr/, /pr/, /cr/, /fr/, /sn/, and /tr/
- continued to study different strategies for solving addition and subtraction equations
- discussed our new sight words: saw, tree, small, your
- reviewed what a main idea of a story is
- focused on our question of the week: Which wild animals live in your neighborhood?
- used the writing process to write our own realistic fiction story about neighborhood animals
- completed our unit on U.S. Symbols!

U.S. Symbols Keynote Project
We learned all about the program Keynote and how to make our own presentations! We researched our topic using books we have read and saved pictures we found online. We shared our projects via Zoom with Mrs. Chadwick's 4th Grade Class and enjoyed a U.S. Symbols Party!
Everyone did such a great job and blew me away with how fast they learned how to make presentations! Your child's Keynote is on Seesaw for you to see!

Upcoming Reminders:
DONATIONS ACCEPTED: We are always accepting classroom donations of Lysol spray (disinfectant spray cans) and Lysol/Clorox wipes! We really appreciate these hard-to-find items, as they are super helpful for our daily classroom cleaning!
Please refill/replace your child's hand sanitizers soon, they are running low, as we are constantly using them!
Bringing Hope Home Fundraiser
Coming up...
- We will start our Word Study Unit. Lists will be sent home through Seesaw on Monday. Every Monday students will be given a pretest which will determine the list they focus on. Word Study assessments will be given on Friday.
- In math, we will complete Topic 2. On Wednesday, look for a practice assessment in your child's folder. The Topic 2 assessment will be on Thursday.
