Keeping you "In the Know"...
"Learning begins at the edge of your comfort zone."
Campus Happenings:
Our learning with Dinah Chancellor was so powerful! I wanted to share with everyone some of the questioning/learning that took place here at Shawnee Trail. I have posted pics so that we could see the power of all of our learning and collaborating together.
Curriculum Updates
MATH
- AIRR BOOKS are being delivered to campuses for 4th grade. YAY!!!!
- CBA 3 for 3rd grade: Please make fraction manipulatives available for the CBA, if needed. Take note if a student is relying heavily on the manipulatives for the fraction problems so as to provide targeted instruction to help with the transition to solving fraction problems without manipulatives successfully (and/or SST for accommodations on STAAR).
- Kudos to our 4th grade teams utilizing Google Hangout! It was a huge success with discussions going deeper with algebraic reasoning. The problems that were used during the "Operating Activity" have been loaded on eduphoria under 4th grade cluster 3 problem solving. Scroll down to the "adding and subtracting decimals" tab and you will find the document loaded there.
- 4th grade PD reflection form (also being emailed through Workshop).

TALK, READ, TALK, WRITE
- Our professional learning at our last staff meeting goes hand in hand with what Ms. Mesa presented to us with Talk, Read, Talk, Write. I wanted to pass along a clip of a kinder teacher implementing Talk, Read, Talk, Write within her classroom.
- Here is a video of the kindergarten using one of the Talk Read, Talk Write strategies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=actb9jgnBog
