FINISH STRONG

By: Sonny Sanchez, DMED Peer Mentor

It happens to all of us, we look ahead and get lost in dreaming about summer. Ahhh…. if only Summer was already here so we could hit the beach, bbq and catch up with family and friends. But before that can happen, you have to focus on finishing the end of this semester like a beast! Here are a few things to help you end the semester like a champ.

First, you’re going to focus on your finishing your assignments and projects. Take on one assignment/project at a time. Find a nice quiet place away from distractions. Post a letter on your door saying,” Do Not Disturb, Genius At Work.” Who said doing homework couldn’t be fun?!

Second, we all feel tired around this time of the semester and I’m speaking for both students and Instructors. You don’t have to cram all your assignments back to back. Clear your workspace and have only the things you need to help you for each specific assignment.

Third, In between each project, get up, go outside, and get some fresh air or even catch up on your favorite t.v. show. It’s healthy to take 30 minutes to a hour break between projects. Once you’re break is over, create a new sign to place on your door. Do something cool like draw a skull and below it, put “I WISH YOU WOULD!” You’ll feel refreshed every time you move on to each assignment by taking breaks.

Oh, and don’t forget to eat somewhere in between all your work. Snacks and a cold non-alcoholic beverage is always good to have within arms reach while you’re working on your assignments.

Before you know it, you’ll be done with everything and pat yourself on the back for not giving into going out to the movies or seeing friends. You can do all that when you finish the semester strong.

Good Luck on your final projects.
