Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Please review our arrival and dismissal procedures so all of our students can enter and exit the building safely.
D47 School Meal Program
The federal legislation and funding that provided all students with free meals (breakfast and lunch) has expired. During the 2022-23 school year, students who do not qualify for free and/or reduced meals will need to purchase lunch/breakfast or bring a meal from home. For information about free/reduced lunch applications and/or fee waivers, please visit student fees on the district website.
2022-23 Meal Prices
Milk: $.55
Breakfast: $1.50
Lunch: $3.25
My Payments Plus to Manage Student's Lunch Account Online
Parents can create a MyPaymentsPlus (www.MyPaymentsPlus.com) account to fund and manage their student's food service online. This system speeds up serving lines in the cafeteria, eliminates the need to send checks to school and concerns over lost or forgotten lunch money, and ensures a nutritious meal for students. Visit the D47 website to learn more.
Reporting Student Absences via ParentVue
District 47’s attendance reporting procedures are changing for the 2022-23 school year. If a child will be absent from school, parents/guardians must log into ParentVue to report the absence before the start of the school day -- by 8:50 a.m. (preK and elementary) and by 7:30 a.m. (middle school). Once logged into ParentVue, click the Report Absence button to complete the quick, two-step process. If you need help logging into ParentVue or have questions, see the links below or contact the parent help desk at hd@d47.org.
Birthday Books
Did you know that our WPO provides the gift of a new book for each student on their birthday? Students love hearing their names on the morning announcements and being able to come down to the office to choose a birthday book. We are delighted to celebrate their special day in this way. Does your child have a summer birthday? No worries...their names will still be called! We announce August birthdays in September, July birthdays in April, and June birthdays in May.
Safety Drills: 8/23
Each year, our students learn and practice our safety drills. As a school, we will be practicing our safety drills on Tuesday, August 23rd. We will practice the fire drill, lockdown drill and shelter in place drill. Teachers explain the drills to the students and walk through them with their class. With the guidance of their teacher, we are confident that students know what to do with each drill.
One additional piece to our Fire Drill and Lockdown Drill is that we practice one time with the Fire Department and Police Department at West. This is very helpful as they make sure we are doing everything correctly and give us additional feedback if needed. We will keep you updated as to the dates/times of those additional drills.
Please talk about the drills with your students as talking to them about safety is always a great conversation. If you would like your child to not participate in our drills, please fill out the opt out form that was emailed last week. You can submit this to Mrs. Klinsky at baklinsky@d47.org
