A Message From The Principal
Dear Maltby Families,
State Testing
Starting next week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking our state’s standardized test. By working together, we can make sure that your child has a positive testing experience. Here are some suggestions that you can do to help your student succeed:
Make sure your child gets a good night's rest
Have your child eat a healthy breakfast
Help your child get to school on time
Encourage your child to do their best
We will be providing snacks and encouragement to all students as we move through the testing days over the next two weeks. Thanks for your support.
Visitors and Volunteers
We are excited to have volunteers back on campus. If you would like to volunteer, we could use volunteers to help in the lunchroom, at recess, and the library. If you would like to volunteer in your child’s classroom, please contact your child’s teacher to see if they are welcoming volunteers this year.
Thank you Mustang Families for bringing your students to school ready each day for their academic and social learning. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at: hillestadc@monroe.wednet.edu or at 360-804-3500.
Sincerely,
Christine Hillestad

Attention 5th Grade Families!!Graduation Ceremony and Celebration/Party ~ June 21st
We are so excited to be celebrating our 5th grade students and have multiple celebratory events coming up as they pass the milestone of completing elementary school and moving up to middle school.
Fifth Grade Ceremony: We are looking forward to celebrating our fifth grade students by having a ceremony on campus that families will attend during the school day. We could use help from families with the costs (décor, certificates, refreshments…) or volunteering their time by helping to set up for this event. All donations made to the Maltby PTO are tax deductible.
Fifth Grade Celebration/party ~ 3:30-5:30pm: This is an adult planned and funded event that is held outside of school hours. In previous years they have done outdoor games, inflatables, etc. We will need adults to help with the planning and putting on the event.

Student Covid-19 Testing Consent Form
Did you know that If a student is identified as a close contact at school, they may remain at school after exposure, if they:
- Are tested at least twice during the seven days (Testing is completed at school and includes one test conducted as soon as possible following recognition of the exposure and one test collected 5-7 days after last exposure. Testing would require parent consent prior to any testing) AND
- Have no symptoms of COVID-19; AND
- Continue to wear a mask; AND
- Continue to quarantine outside of school (i.e., not participate in extracurricular activities at school, including sports and other activities outside of their home.)
This option is available for students exposed at school and is not applicable to students exposed outside of school. Below are copies of the parent consent forms if you would like to complete one to have on file.
MSD Employee Honor Roll
Do you know a Monroe School District employee who deserves some much-needed recognition?
Monroe School District has launched a new employee recognition program, called the MSD Employee Honor Roll! This program is aimed at recognizing Monroe School District employees for exemplifying the district’s commitment and shared values through their service to our students, staff, families, and/or community.
All nominees will be recognized, but only one in each employee category will be selected each month as the MSD Employee Honor Roll award recipients. Employee categories include:
Certificated (teachers, counselors, psychologists, etc)
Classified (paraeducators, nurses, office staff, bus drivers, food service, custodial, technology, maintenance, etc)
Substitutes and coaches
Administrators (Principals, assistant principals, directors, executive staff)
School Lunch/Breakfast
This year, students at Monroe School District have a lot to look forward to when it comes to mealtime. For the 2021-2022 school year, meals will be offered to students in all grade levels at no cost, thanks to flexibilities provided by the USDA’s National School Lunch Program. This allows everyone to enjoy 1 free breakfast & 1 free lunch per day.
