Thanksgiving Holiday

To celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 21st - Friday, November 23rd. School RESUMES on Monday, November 26th! Enjoy the days off!

Second Semester Enrollment...

The referral process for second semester starts on November 1st. If you or your student wants to discuss going back to their home high school, please contact Mrs. Norris PRIOR to November 23rd. melissa.norris@lps53.org

SENIORS: FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) info you NEED TO KNOW!

  • December 12th -- FAFSA Completion Event, 2-6pm at Maple Woods
  • January 22nd -- FAFSA Frenzy, 2-6pm at Maple Woods
  • February 7th -- Maple Woods A+ Information Night, 6-7:30pm

FAFSA Frenzy and Completion events are for ANY student, planning on attending ANY post-secondary school. Bring your 2017 W-2 and tax information to apply for the 2019-2020 FAFSA and utilize the free assistance available in completing the application!

Federal Deadline

Online applications must be submitted by midnight Central Time, June 30, 2019. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by midnight Central Time, September 14, 2019.

State Deadline

Missouri - February 1, 2018 . For priority consideration, submit application by date specified. Applications accepted through April 2, 2018, by midnight, Central Time. Awards made until funds are depleted

College Deadline

Check with the college(s) you are interested in attending. You may also want to ask your college about its definition of an application deadline - whether it is the date the college receives your FAFSA, or the date your FAFSA is processed.

Seniors: You NEED a cap and gown!

If you plan to participate in the graduation ceremony, you MUST order a cap and gown. Students at Liberty Academy and in the Missouri Option program, have until Wednesday, 11/20 to order as part of our large group order. Orders placed AFTER 11/20 will be filled on an individual basis and could cost more. Please contact Mrs. Streu (lori.streu@lps53.org) if you need an order packet!

Interested in a Medical Career?

Register now for the November 15 Medical Careers Night at Liberty Hospital. This event will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. and is come-and-go (both students and parents). Medical Careers Night is open to both Liberty and Kearney school districts, 6th-12th grades, and to Staley High School students. Although the event is free, registration is required at libertyhospital.org to reserve student tour times. For more information, please contact Colleen Jones, 736-5320.

ACT practice test!

SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS- Tutor Doctor is offering a free opportunity to take a practice ACT test. There are 2 dates left in November: November 15, and November 17. To sign up--contact Mrs. Streu (lori.streu@lps53.org). Seats are limited. After the test, you will be given a report of your results.

Missouri A+ = FREE MONEY for COLLEGE or TRADE SCHOOL

Missouri A+ is a scholarship program that every student enrolled at Liberty Academy can potentially participate in!


Students who qualify for this program may be...


*eligible for two years of tuition grants at attend a MO community college or vocational/ school

*eligible for scholarships from four-year colleges and universities



Requirements include...



*Sign up! (Takes 2 minutes!)

*Attend an A+ school (like any LPS school) for three years prior to graduation

*graduate with an overall GPA of 2.5 or better

*have an overall attendance rate of 95% or better for grades 9-12

*perform 50 hours of district-supervised unpaid tutoring

*score "Proficient" or "Advanced" on the Algebra I end-of-course exam
