Thank You to Our Volunteers!

On behalf of the students and staff at Bell Elementary, we would like to say "thank you" to our volunteers who help make sure our building is bright and running smoothly. We have volunteers who run fun events, decorate classroom doors, cut, laminate, make copies, help with the lost 'n found, plan classroom parties, and much, much more! You are invaluable to us, and we appreciate you so!

Interested in volunteering? Come visit the Bell front office and we can help get you set up! Our classroom teachers and PTA are always looking for volunteers as well! A background check is the first step!

Justice

This month we are focusing on the character trait of justice with our students. Each day on announcements we talk about equality and fairness for all students and how we each play an important role in practicing justice. Caring and integrity are woven throughout as well. Thank you in advance for continuing those conversations at home!

Some of the quotes we use to help spring conversation include:

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mohandas Gandhi

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Adopt-A-School Contest Winners

Congratulations to our 2016-2017 Adopt-A-School Art and Essay Contest Winners! Our 4th and 5th graders worked very hard on their essay and art entries earlier this year, and were surprised by a trophy delivery and recognition before Winter Break. Bell first place winners were entered in another contest with all other district elementary first place winners, and we will find out in the next few weeks if we have any district level winners. We are so excited we can hardly wait!

Pictured above are our 4th and 5th grade student winners and their very proud teachers and principals.

2016-2017 Hawkeye Literacy Teacher

Congratulations to Mrs. Bennett, First Grade Teacher, for earning the honor of Bell Elementary Hawkeye Literacy Teacher for the 2016-2017 school year! Mrs. Bennett does an outstanding job of implementing literacy instruction daily in her classroom and inspires a love of reading with her students. Just ask her students, she is a treasure!

The program, an educational plan established by the late Mildred McCauley Hawk, has existed for 18 years on the basis of encouraging students to read. Mrs. Hawk believed in the program enough to donate $50,000 to the Denton Public School Foundation before her death to ensure future district students would be encouraged to read. The program includes a student portion that our second graders will be participating in this semester.

Mrs. Bennett is pictured above.

Bell's FIRST Yearbook!

Yearbook is underway and we want everyone involved! In the picture above, you will find information on an app that you can use from your phone to send us as many photos as you want to.

Download the app and simply submit photos taken at school events. All of your candid photos from around the school and in the classroom will help make our first yearbook a huge success!

We will begin taking yearbook orders in January. Information is coming soon! Thanks, Bobcats!

We want to give a special THANK YOU to PTA and volunteers for making this a reality!
