Greetings CES Families,
Parent conferences are this coming week, Oct 7-11. School will be dismissed at 1:00 each day. . Please do your best to attend - we are striving for 100% attendance. By now you should have received notice for your conference day and time. If not, please contact your child's teacher asap. Thanks!
CES 6th grade Spaghetti Dinner October 17, 5:00-7:00 pm! $7.50/each, or $20 for family. Tickets can be purchased at CES or CJHS or any 6th grader. (Rumor has it the name "Beilby" was originally "Beilbino" from Old Italy, so Mr. Beilby's spaghetti has to be great!) All funds will be used to support our 6th graders' Plumas to Pacific trip.
Principal's Homework 2019-2020 - for students and parents/guardians.
20 minutes/night for any 4 days of the week, as a special family reading time. Multiple studies indicate a strong correlation between parents who model reading, have books in the home and encourage their children to read results in higher academic achievement, increased neural development and an expanded vocabulary. Take a look at the article in the Atlantic below regarding the importance of the parents/guardian modeling and encouraging reading with their children. Please consider forming healthy, academic habits at home each evening to support your child's learning.
Attendance = 95% or better for all this year! Thank you! We're off to a much better start with our attendance. Our average daily attendance is around 95%, and we are encouraging all of our students and families to do their best to miss no more than 9 days this school year!
After School Homework - Teachers are giving their valuable time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:45. Teachers are willing to assist students with their homework. However, students need to be motivated to work and on their best behavior. If not, then they will need to make a parent phone call and sent home early. Thanks for your understanding.
