Powerful Learning
As we are a month into school and routines are in place, I plan to spend more time in classrooms. I have already observed wonderful and relevant community circles, hands-on math lessons, meaningful discussions around text, and in each instance, the learning opportunities been student-centered. Another common thread I have seen in the classrooms is the integration of mind, brain, and body.
As you know, Adequate sleep and a healthy diet are also essential to learning. Healthy foods are crucial to fueling our students' brains. Adequate sleep helps students with decision making and to think flexibly. This affects the entire community in our classrooms and out on the playground.
Please encourage your child(ren) to get a good night's sleep. Also, If you are packing their lunches, or they are packing their own, please consider fruits or other healthy options as "treats." Brainstorm a list of healthy items your child(ren) like for lunch, or take advantage of our free breakfast (or second chance breakfast) and lunch in the cafeteria.
Thank you families for your support of this.

People with COVID-19 can have a "wide range of symptoms, which may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus." Please refer to the below links (Spanish and English) Symptoms of Covid-19 Chart to help us keep our Holbrook community safe.
If your student exhibits any of the symptoms in the chart, your student should not come to school, and the school should be notified. If any of these symptoms appear while your student is at school, we will notify you to pick up and test your student.
