Updated COVID-19 Policies for Spring 2022 Semester
With vaccination rates increasing and in coordination with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines, the following new COVID-19 policies will take effect for all Los Angeles Unified schools on January 10, 2022. Los Angeles Unified will continue to collaborate with our health partners at the county and state levels, as well as our panel of medical experts and university partners. We will also continue to review updates to county, state, and federal guidance on a daily basis. We may adjust policies accordingly should the need arise due to an increase in community case and positivity rates. For more information please contact your child's school.
93rd St Elementary School
The mission of Ninety-Third Street Elementary School is to educate students to be productively involved in a highly technical society by creating a neighborhood school where students are to actively engage in inquiry, discovery, critical analysis and a discussion of the subject matter learn through active participation in an enriched, organized curriculum that focuses on science, mathematics, art, and the use of technology. The focus is not just instructional but also on the well-being of the student. If families in the community need clothing or food etc. 93rd St is willing to assist our families.
Loren Miller Elementary School
During the first week of November, our fourth and a few of our fifth-grade students had the opportunity to participate in STEAM Week, where they researched community-related problems and collaborated with their peers to determine solutions.
- Two of our classrooms were reimagined into tech spaces for students to work.
- They were introduced to technology to assist them in communicating their themes, developing logos, and creating projects. Students utilized the vinyl on the reels to create plant holders for plants to assist with breathing cleaner air.
- Students used the Fabrication machines to create individual logos which were transferred to their own carry bags.
Our teachers and staff loved the experience so much that we are purchasing our own version of a Fabrication Lab. We also discovered that four of our staff members have a Fabrication Certification. We are excited about where this new knowledge will lead our school.
Local District South has partnered with many community organizations to offer families a wide range of wellness services. The pandemic has been challenging for families in our community of schools. Join us for a virtual community resource fair that will provide you with vital assistance and support.
