Dalai Lama Fellows and ALA
Social Innovation, Ethics & Contemplative Values
Start Your Journey
We are calling globally-minded citizens who want to build a more harmonious, peaceful, and sustainable world. This year, we are partnering with African Leadership Academy to identify young leaders with great new ideas for social change.
If you are a Global Citizen Year alum and a current undergraduate, we'd like you to join us! Propose a year-long Compassion-in-Action project that addresses one or more of the five Global Challenges in your community:
- Poverty
- Violence
- Gender Inequity
- Environmental Devastation, and
- Cross-cultural antagonisms
Join an international network of Fellows who are committed to social change rooted in secular ethics, contemplative values, and compassion. Our program seeks proposals for projects that will address these challenges while working at the intersection of justice, peace, and ecology.
We are interested in supporting efforts that will strengthen unlikely alliances and improve well-being in locations where economic impoverishment, violence and/or discord, and ecological degradation intersect. Ideal projects will have layers that respond to each of these intersecting challenges.
As a Fellow, you:
- Design and launch a project to address a global challenge in your community;
- Travel to the Ethical Leadership Assembly (ELA) in June 2015 near San Francisco, to connect with Fellows from around the world and to deepen your leadership capacity;
- Receive up to $10,000 in funding for your project and travel to the ELA; and,
Participate in a distinctive, year-long curriculum with ongoing, personalized coaching.
