Attention Parents:

Kelly DiPucchio is coming to Suwanee Elementary on Wednesday, February 17th!

The media center will be selling some of Kelly's books beginning on Monday, February 8th through Tuesday, February 16th. Some titles will have limited quantities, so please purchase early. We will accept cash, check or credit cards. Students can purchase books throughout the school day and parents are also invited to drop by the media center and shop. Purchased books will be kept in the media center to be signed by Kelly on Wednesday, February 17th. Signed books will be delivered to students on Thursday, February 18th.

If we sell out of a title, we will let the students know on the morning news. It is possible we may offer a few titles not listed here. We are working with Scholastic to get as many titles as possible. If you would like to reserve a copy, please email Mrs. Duncan An autographed book is a wonderful keepsake of this exciting event.

Thursday, Feb. 18th - Family Science Night, 6:00-7:30 PM

Join us on Thursday, February 18th, for a night of science fun the whole family can enjoy! See firsthand what an owl eats, discover how lemons can make more than just lemonade, visit the night sky without setting foot outside in Elachee Nature Center's Starlab portable planetarium, make unconventional aircraft, and explore a way to make bubbles that you can hold in your hands. Make sure to check out the fantastic Science Fair projects that our busy 5th grade scientists have been working on.

Parent/Teacher Conferences. During Early Release, February 24th & 25th

Please be sure to look in your teacher's newsletter, and/or in an email from your teacher to schedule your Parent/Teacher Conference. You will be given details on how to access your teacher's conferencing schedule and choose an available time and date.

School will be dismissed at 12:15pm on Wednesday, February 24th and Thursday, February 25th.

All Pro Dad Breakfast

Come join us in the cafeteria for All Pro Dad breakfast, Friday February 19, 2016 6:55 a.m.-7:45 a.m.

Jump Street Spirit Day/Night on Early Release Day

Join your Jaguar friends for two hours of Early Release Day jumping and bouncing fun at Jump Street, located at Sugarloaf Mills, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 2-8 p.m. Jump Street features 10,000 square feet of trampolines, trampoline dodge ball courts, a foam pit, mechanical bull, walking sticks and dunk ball! Admission will be $14 per jumper. Be sure to mention you are with Suwanee Elementary when you check in. The PTA is looking forward to this fun event!

Georgia Milestones Assessment Parent Session

On Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM parents of students in grades 3-5 are invited to learn more about the Georgia Milestones Assessment. Specifically, we will provide a hands-on experience with rubric-based items. This evening is hosted by our teachers at Suwanee. We look forward to seeing you at this parent learning night!

Georgia Milestones Assessment System Results

The Spring 2015 Georgia Milestones Assessment Results are in the Parent Portal for students who were in grades 3 through 5 during Spring 2015. In the Portal, parents can access a Parent Guide that explains the electronic score report. Below is a link to a press release outlining how students performed overall in Gwinnett County Public Schools:

FREE text service for parents of 4 & 5 yr olds

  • provides literacy & math tips and resources
  • now available in English and Spanish.

What: Collaborative effort between Georgia Department of Education and Stanford University to create a free text service for parents of 4 & 5 yr olds that includes tips, facts and suggestions to promote early literacy and mathematics.

When: Text messages are sent every 2 to 3 days.

Safety and Security

All schools have a safety and security plans. The plans are designed with the help of school security and support staff members, as well as local law enforcement, emergency management, and public health officials. Plans are reviewed and updated regularly. These plans include procedures to respond to critical incidents such as tornados, medical emergencies and criminal acts. All staff members are trained on all procedures as it relates to how to handle issues related to safety and security.
