NAESP: Report to Parents - Talking About Grades
"A discussion with your child about grades can be an effective conversation starter that leads to a broader discussion about school in general. Allowing your child the opportunity to share thoughts and feelings - not just about academics - but also about social issues and their teachers is just as important as a conversation about grades. Families can use these tips to talk to kids about grades in a positive and effective way..."

Car Rider Arrival/Dismissal Reminders - Prioritizing Student Safety
Reminders about Arrival and Dismissal for Car Riders (originally published in August):
ARRIVAL - 8:45-9:05 AM
- School Doors officially open at 8:45 AM., PLEASE have car-riders REMAIN in vehicles until staff is in place at 8:45 AM.
- Walkers will be assembling under the canopy by the front doors, but we request car-riders remain in vehicles so traffic is not moving while children are walking to school.
- We will have a crosswalk attendee supporting student walker arrival and traffic flow.
- First vehicle, please pull all the way around to the gym atrium.
- When it is time, students should exit along the sidewalk side (right side of vehicles).
- Parents are to remain in vehicles as students exit. If a child needs support exiting/carrying items, please park in our visitor spots and walk your child into the main office. Please say goodbye in the vehicle before your child exits.
- Be patient for the safety of our students and staff.
DISMISSAL 3:45-4:05 PM
- Car-Rider dismissal will take place from our Gym Atrium Doors. Pull all the way around to the gym - follow the lead of the attendant.
- Parents remain in vehicles at all times; a staff member will call the student to meet the vehicle in our pull-around circle.
- A placard has been provided to each family - please fill-out and place on dashboard for quicker processing. If you need another placard, please notify an outside attendant.
*Walkers will be dismissed from school once buses have left (backdoor walkers) and carline is finishing - no later than 4:05 PM.
When everyone follows the safety procedures of our school's plan, we meet our daily dismissal goals prioritizing student safety. When there are weather issues, anticipate delays due to more traffic.

Department Updates
From the Guidance Department
As part of the State mandate for career education, all PA students receive information on the various pathways available in pursuing their interests including post-secondary education, trades/employment, or the military. With respect to fields in trade, Central Bucks & Bucks County schools have a long-standing relationship with the local Career Technical Center, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT).
At the high school level, some students spend half of their school-day at MBIT, in classrooms and program laboratories receiving specific training in areas such as horticulture or electronics. While in the middle school grades, students attend presentations about the many programs which can lead to visits or even shadowing a current student in programs (like commercial art or dental occupations). Summer school programs are also conducted in many areas of interest including Drone Discovery and Pastry Art.
Over the last few years, elementary students have in-person tours (when permitted) and most recently real-time virtual panels and visits given by the current MBIT students to our sixth-grade classes. These tours are scheduled again for this May.
To conduct a tour yourself to find out more about the many opportunities available to the Central Bucks students, click here. For comments or questions, please contact Ginny Barrett at vbarrett@cbsd.org.
