ELA Week 9
Mrs. Boyd
WHAT WE ARE UP TO
IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE: fiction, that is! Fiction is such a blast to teach. Students discover what they love to read (and what they hate) through reading fiction. Fiction is a huge unit with various genres within. We will be working on fiction until Christmas and even continue into the next semester. There are so many elements to learn and analyze. Students will be reading various texts and making cross-text connections, as well as world connections. This week, we will be introducing drama with the text "Sorry, Wrong Number." Students will focus on the elements of drama and what makes drama different from other types of fiction. Students will also be studying mood and how good writers set the mood through imagery and figurative language.
