Class of 2022
Congrats to Jailyn Mejia-para at the Kelly school on her graduation!
Kelly School Scholars in grades 3-6 worked hard throughout our MCAS testing period to show what they know -- so we celebrated the end of MCAS testing with our annual Students-vs-Staff Basketball Game! Every day we remind kids to "Be Kind, Work Hard, and Get Smart!" -- so during this annual tradition we PLAY hard too! Everyone had a ball -- literally and figuratively!
These pictures are from the 3rd grade game -- the only team able to beat the Kelly Staff this year!
Golden Triangle
The Sokolowski Sharks honors the people in our community for the amazing work that they do to show the blocks of the Pyramid of Success by presenting the Personal Best Award. This month, we honored members that show Team Spirit. This month, Janine Romano (The First Female Firefighter in the City of Chelsea) received our Golden Triangle. Thank you for being such an asset to our community!
Thanks to a generous donation from Melissa Polino, every child at the Sokolowski School was able to take home a brand new book!
Grade 7 students at Browne investigated erosion. They looked for evidence to determine whether erosion caused by water or wind takes a longer time. They also analyzed the erosion effects of fast vs. slow rivers, and they related this to the concept of kinetic energy, which they learned about earlier in the year.
Congratulations to the mighty Young Soles of the Browne Sole Train team for crushing it at Boston’s Run to Remember on Sunday, May 29th! Adam Hazimeh and Maria Adam completed a five-mile race through Boston, to the cheers of thousands of other runners and supporters. We are so proud of how they trained hard all year to complete this tremendous goal! Please offer your congratulations to them as you see them.
During our WIN block, fifth grade students learned team building games from our eighth graders. The eighth graders taught the fifth graders two games: 'Yes' and 'Is this Seat Taken?'. Both of these games promote strong nonverbal communication skills, self-regulation, and collaboration. The eighth graders were strong role models and excellent teachers and the fifth graders are so excited to play these games in their own WIN class. A huge shout out to Ms. Parrella and Ms. Alexis for bringing their students together for a cross grade collaboration!
Class of 2022 and alumni recipients of the BHCC City of Chelsea Scholarship were honored today at Chelsea High School. On May 24, CHS Outdoor Club headed to Mount Wachusett to enjoy a blue-sky day in Western Massachusetts. They shared, “Today, this is our classroom!” The Outdoor Club team supported each other over the terrain, shared stories, played games, made lunch together, and danced to music in the parking lot, led by none other than school counselor Frances Melchor. Special shout out to Frances and darling dog companion Coco, Nate Weaver for driving, trip organizers Claudia Lawry and Giulia Basile, and most of all, the Outdoor Club members for making the day wonderful.
