THE ORION GAZETTE

Week of September 3, 2018

NEW DIGITAL NEWSLETTER

A little later than anticipated, but our new digital newsletter is finally up and running! Thank you so much for your patience as we worked through a few technological glitches. This newsletter will go out electronically every other week. We will also have a few paper copies available on the table in the main hallway.

TRAFFIC UPDATE

A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful parents volunteering to help with both AM and PM Traffic Duty. Thanks to all of you, we have been able to keep both Allerton Street and Warren Street open for PM pickup.

As long as we continue to have parent volunteers, we will keep both sides open for pickup. To ease traffic congestion on Allerton Street, please consider picking up your kiddos on the Warren Street pick up area.

SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Superintendent's Advisory Council is made of of parents and staff from each of our district's 16 schools. Our parent representatives are Carol Anne Bauman and Shana Hackworth. Our staff representative is Teacher Stephanie.

The charge of the council is to study the current challenges facing our district. Over the past five years, our district has seen a significant decrease in enrollment which is negatively impacting our district's budget. The council will meet once a week during the fall to study the district's challenges and to generate possible solutions. The meetings are closed to the wider community. However, the following meetings will be open to the general public, and all community members and parents are highly encouraged to attend:

Tuesday, October 16th - Board study session on proposed solutions

Monday, October 22nd - Community Input Meeting

Thursday, October 25th - Community Input Meeting
