February is an exciting month here at Elmdale. This month is I Love To Read month and we are looking forward to all the exciting guest readers that will be making their way around to each classroom. In conjunction with ILTR month, we plan on creating another music video. Please see the instructions below explaining how to upload your picture or video.

February 23rd is our Family Celebration of Learning event. Our students are always excited to show you their art work that they created with artist Colleen Watchorn during the month of January. In addition, classes will be sharing some of the books that they have created. This year, some classes have explored how to create books using an app called Book Creator using their iPad. Lastly, we have our Book Fair from February 21-23 and we will send home more information in a couple weeks.

The past two years, Elmdale has created our own “I Love to Read” music videos during the month of February. This year, we would like to create several music videos featuring the students reading at home this year.

We will use a montage of still pictures and short video clips to promote how many different ways we can read at home, and how much fun it can be. What we need from you is one still picture OR a 5 second video clip. These will be uploaded by you directly to a private Dropbox account. If you send a video, please note that we will not be using the audio portion. The completed music video will only be played at school and will be played during our Family Celebration of Learning event.

If you are unable to upload a picture or video and you would still like to have your child participate, please let the classroom teacher know and we will be happy to take a picture of your child reading at school.

We look forward to putting these videos together and anticipate the excitement that the children will have when they see themselves in the video.
