Dodge County Fair

Click for more information

County Fair is just right around the corner. It takes over a hundred 4-H volunteers to make the fair run smoothly whether it is in a Livestock show or on Static judging day. Each club is going to be assigned a project area on judging day. You as a 4-H family are asked to volunteer at the time it works for you in your project area. Please contact your 4-H leader or the Dodge County Extension office to reserve your time slot by July 20th. You can always volunteer to stay for two shifts as well. Superintendent Structure New in 2016

In the past 4-H Clubs have been assigned livestock shows during county fair to serve as superintendents and show management. In 2016, the superintendents will be managed differently. We are in the process of building superintendent teams. These teams will be made up of individuals who have an interest and solid understanding of the respective species and how that particular show should be managed. Superintendent positions on the teams will be on a rotational basis with one individual rotating off annually and a new member coming on the team. Teams will consist of 3 – 5 individuals. Team members will serve as superintendent for 3 – 5 years depending on the species.

We are still in the process of building our superintendent teams. If you have an interest in wanting to be a part of the show management or know of someone (4-H alumni, non-4-H parent, business person, etc), please contact Karna at

We will be establishing superintendent teams for the following shows:

· Horse

· Poultry

· Bucket Calf

· Sheep and Goat

· Dairy Cattle

· Companion Animal

· Swine

· Livestock Judging Contest

· Dog Show

· Beef

· Rabbit

Some superintendents have already been secured. If the species you are interested in helping with is already full for 2016, we will add you to our superintendent list for 2017. Please notify Karna of your interest or share her contact information with someone you believe would be good as a superintendent.

Fair Time is just around the corner. The Dodge County 4-H Council is asking 4-H families, 4-H clubs and 4-H fair supporters to donate items to the auction. Please pass this information along to anyone that may be interested in donating.

Suggested items that can be donated include themed gift boxes/baskets, craft items, plants, gift certificates, tractor toys or sports items. Get creative coming up with something fun for the auction.

Donated items can be dropped off at the Dodge County Extension Office before the fair or at the 4-H office at the fairgrounds on check-in day. The Dodge County Fair is Aug 3-Aug 7, 2016.

If you have any questions please call or email one of the following 4-H Council Members:

The purpose of the Dodge County 4-H Silent Auction is to supplement and generate funds for the 4-H Youth Program. These funds will benefit the 4-H youth in the Dodge County 4-H Program.
