Below you will find links and information for various scholarships available to high school students. There are a ton of scholarships out there, and these are just a few of them. Take some time to look at the deadlines, requirements, and qualifications for these scholarships, and start applying for free money!


Please note that the scholarship descriptions below do not provide all of the qualifications and requirements for each scholarship, only a general overview. Visit the different websites to view the complete list of requirements needed to qualify for some scholarships.

Scholarships

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

Available to all high school juniors and seniors, and students enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution.


Award: $1,000

Deadline: June 10, 2016

How to apply: Submit a 500-1000 word essay to scholarships@abbottandfenner.com

Essay Topic: Describe your educational career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

The Alert Scholarship

Alert Magazine awards high school seniors in Colorado who have a 2.5 GPA or higher a college scholarship with each edition of their Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention magazine.


Award: $500

Deadline: No deadline - you may apply at any time when you meet eligibility requirements

How to apply: Applicants must submit a 650-800 word essay and high school transcript, along with a photo to be included with the winning essay in the magazine.

Essay Topic: Write an essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse. Explain how the situation was dealt with, what you learned from it, what others can learn from the experience, and what was right or wrong (in you opinion) about the way the incident was handled.

Aspiring Animation Professional Scholarship Program

Awarded to students intending to pursue an animation related field at an accredited post-secondary school or college.


Award: $1,000

Deadline: June 1, 2016

How to apply: Applicants must submit an application and a 500-1000 word essay. Essays can be submitted via the scholarship application page.

Essay Topic: What specific skill do you most want to develop?

Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship Program

Awarded to students interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.


Award: $1,000

Deadline: June 1, 2016

How to apply: Applicants must submit an application and a 500-1000 word essay. Essays can be submitted via the scholarship application page.

Essay Topic: What specific skill do you most want to develop?

Believe In You Scholarship

The Herff Jones Believe in You Scholarship and Principal's Award is awarded to high school seniors who are nominated by the school and demonstrate leadership, strong academic performance, and community service.


Award: $2,000 - $12,000

Deadline: February 8, 2016

How to apply: The school designee/principal will complete a nomination form and nominees will complete an online application.

Community Foundation of Northern Colorado

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado offers students a wide variety of scholarships. You can complete one application that will then match you to all of their scholarships that you qualify for. Scholarships can be based on financial need, academic achievement, or a specific geographic location.

Courageous Persuaders Scholarship

Courageous Persuaders offers several scholarship opportunities to high school students (9-12) as well as a chance to have a commercial that you create air on TV!


Award: Varies

Deadline: February 11, 2016

How to apply: Create a 30 second commercial to middle school students about the dangers of underage drinking or texting while driving. You can enter separate videos in both categories.

Elks National Foundation Legacy Award

The Elks National Foundation awards scholarships to high school students who are children, grandchildren, step-children, step-grandchildren, or legal wards of Elk Lodge members.


Award: $4,000

Deadline: January 29, 2016

How to apply: Complete the application found on their website. Applicants must exhibit the core Elk National Foundation values of knowledge, charity, community, and integrity.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a variety of scholarships to high school students of Hispanic heritage with a 3.0 GPA, and college students with a 2.5 GPA.


Award: $500 - $5,000

Deadline: March 30 every year

How to apply: Applicants must meet the general eligibility requirements and must complete an online application. The various scholarships could have their own requirements as well.

IBMC Presidential Scholarship

The Institute of Business and Medical Careers Presidential Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors with a 2.5 GPA or higher who are interested in pursuing a business or medical career at IBMC.


Award: $1,000 - $1,500

Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by the 15th of the month (scholarships are awarded monthly)

How to apply: Submit an application and a counselor recommendation (found in the application). Successful applications work well with others and have a good attendance record in their junior and senior years of high school.

Poudre Valley REA Scholarships

Poudre Valley REA offers twenty scholarships to high school seniors and college undergraduate students who demonstrate academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, and financial need.


Award: $2,000

Deadline: February 16, 2016

How to apply: Complete an application and an essay (minimum 1,000 words). Applications need to include a transcript, two letters of recommendation, ACT/SAT scores, and a copy of the IRS tax return page showing Adjusted Gross Income.

Essay Topic: This two page essay should outline your achievements and career goals, and your involvement in extra-curricular activities.

Regency Beauty Institute

The Regency Beauty Institute offers high school seniors the GoCosmo Scholarship who complete a themed makeover. Four students will be selected as winners.


Award: $5,000

Deadline: TBD

How to apply: Follow the makeover theme (soon to be announced) and submit before and after photos to show off your creativity. When the scholarship contest opens in 2016, you will be able to find a submission form on the Regency Facebook page and attach a photo to the submission app.

Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association Scholarships

The RMWEA awards scholarships to high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the water environment profession and will be attending a two or four year college in Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico.


Award: $2,500 and a one-year membership to RMWEA

Deadline: June 15, 2016

How to apply: Complete an application for either the Bill Martin Scholarship or the Tony Campman Scholarship (applications found on the website). Each application requires a copy of your high school transcript, college acceptance letter, two letters of recommendation, and a 200-300 word essay.

Essay Topic: Describe your interest in the environment, and how this interest influences your career goals.

Generation Progress has links to many scholarships available to undocumented students. "The scholarships are provided by foundations, organizations, or individual donors who believe that all students should have the opportunity to compete for resources that would make their educational dreams a reality."

TheDream.US Scholarship

TheDream.US provides scholarships to first time college students and community college graduates who want to get a college education and cannot afford it. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have come to the United States before turning 16 years old.


Award: Maximum of $12,500 for an associate's degree, and $25,000 for a bachelor's degree

Deadline: February 15, 2016

How to apply: Complete an application, six short essays (max. 250 words each), and submit one letter of recommendation.

  1. Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals.
  2. Excluding financial needs, what are the most significant challenges you expect to face in transitioning to and completing college? How will you overcome these challenges?
  3. How will achieving your goals impact your life and the lives of others?



Overcoming Adversity


  1. Describe a challenging family or personal circumstance that affected your achievement or participation in school, work, or community activities. How did you overcome this challenge?
  2. What did you learn from the experience above?
  3. How will you use what you have learned to help yourself and others?

Thomas B. Snover Memorial Scholarship

In memory of Thomas Snover, this scholarship is awarded to a Poudre School District student who exhibits academic achievement, exceptional character, and zest for life.


Award: $5,000

Deadline: March 10, 2016

How to apply: Submit an application and a "photo essay" or other creative work that shows people, places, and events that you value most from your high school experience. You should also include an explanation of what those photos show and why they are important to you. You can find a list of ideas for this creative project on their website.

UNCF Scholarships

The UNCF Program offers a wide variety of scholarships. Check out their website to look through available scholarships. Each scholarship has its own deadlines, awards, and eligibility requirements. Be sure to pay close attention to the different requirements; many of the scholarships only apply to students in specific states.

Volunteerism/Community Service Scholarship

Awarded to graduating high school seniors who have significant volunteer experience, a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, have been accepted at an approved institution, and will be enrolled full-time within 6 months after graduation.


Award: $1,500

Deadline: January 29, 2016

How to apply: Complete an application, a one page essay, and send in two letters of recommendation and your high school transcript.

Essay Topic: Evaluate a significant experience or achievement that has had special meaning to you in your past volunteer work.
