What's Up In The Classroom?
Summarizing text has been our focus this week. Students have been reading a variety of texts (fiction and non-fiction) and summarizing them in 5 to 7 sentences. They are really getting good at it!
Spelling - You may have wondered why your child didn't have a spelling sort this week. We are taking a break from spelling sorts and moving into Greek and Latin roots. Students were divided up based on winter MAP scores. They will spend 20 minutes each day practicing Greek and Latin roots, word analysis and vocabulary, literal comprehension, interpretive comprehension, and literary response and analysis skills.
Math - We are working to turn fractions into decimals and vice versa this week. Students will have to be able to place these decimals on a number line, compare them, and turn them from decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals.

Science - We are almost done with our astronomy unit. Students have until Spring Break to finish up their modules and packet.
