TEACHER OF THE YEAR
NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK: APRIL 4-8
National Library Week celebrates our nation's libraries and librarians and promotes library usage.
This year’s theme is centered around connecting with the libraries in your community whether it be through technology, classes, media, and programs in addition to of course BOOKS! Connect with Crockett Elementary Library & Sterling Municipal Library! Each day, explore one of these libraries with your family with an activity (click on the link below to view activities). After you complete an activity, go to our Crockett Facebook page and comment with what you learned each day under the National Library Week post! (Please note our page is public.)

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL WEEK: APRIL 4-8
A BIG shout out to our wonderful Assistant Principal who has a strong desire to help our students succeed! We love and appreciate Mrs. Castillo!
"A great Assistant Principal builds character, inspires dreams, encourages creativity, builds confidence, instills a love of learning, touches our hearts & changes our lives forever."
Summer Reading Bookmark Contest!
Mrs. Truesdale, our librarian, is having a Summer Reading Bookmark Contest! The contest is open for all students, PK-5th grade. Students can get a blank bookmark during their library time the week of March 28.
There are a few requirements:
1. The bookmark MUST be about books or reading.
2. It can have a summer theme, but not required
3. It needs to be hand drawn by the child (no digital art)
4. It MUST be drawn on the blank bookmark template provided by Mrs. Truesdale
If your child designs a bookmark, it needs to be returned to Mrs. Truesdale by Friday, April 8. This contest is optional. They will be judged by Crockett staff members. Bookmarks will be divided into 2 categories: Pk-2nd and 3rd-5th grade. So we will have two winners! The winning bookmarks will be printed and passed out to all students, teachers, and staff for our Summer Reading Challenge!

The official theme for 2022 is Invest in Our Planet.
Part of our Science TEKS curriculum is for students to learn about sustainability such as reduce, reuse, and recycle for our environment. Your child is invited to participate in a Sustainability Challenge. You will upcycle something useful for another purpose.

SOCIO EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)
This month we are talking about Responsibility! The dictionary talks about Responsibility in a few ways: duty, accountability, and the independence to make decisions. We are using a slightly different definition at school. Click on the links below to view more information and activities for the family!

MATH CORNER: Math Fact Fluency
Math fact fluency is the ability to quickly recall addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts through conceptual learning, fact strategies, and memorization.
Math fluency is important because it…
- contributes to students’ ability to solve more difficult problems quicker and more accurately.
- leads to success in students’ future mathematics courses and careers.
- builds confidence in students’ math ability.
This year, each grade level has made a commitment to a set of facts. We look forward to working together to ensure mastery of our math fact commitments!
