AFSA Monthly Newsletter

September 2015

From the Desk of the President

Rhonda Schroeder, OCBA~AFSA President

Hello OKCPS Team!

This is our first monthly newsletter! We will do our best to continue a monthly communication with you. As you can imagine time and energy is limited for everyone, but we want to be good stewards and provide you with regular updates and communication. For now, since we are just getting our feet wet, we'll keep this newsletter short and sweet.

The goal for this newsletter will be to provide you with important updates about association news, negotiations, calendars events, etc. If you have suggestions or would like to like to provide information to include in the newsletters please let us know, by commenting at the bottom of this newsletter.

General Assembly Meetings

In years past, at least for the past several years there have not been regular general assembly meetings. For the most part meetings were limited to a Fall or winter social, a contract ratification meeting, and a spring leadership breakfast. The Executive Board Meets the first Monday of Odd Months. The Executive Board had discussed holding regular meetings for the purpose of communicating association business and hearing from our members. In order to do this, it takes a commitment from everyone. We've also discussed having a monthly breakfast as time to collaborate and network with one another. As we move forward in planning for this school year, we will make efforts to progress on these opportunities. We will need your help. Collectively we can accomplish so much! Stay tuned for more details

TLE Guidelines Committee

District leadership and OCBA has worked to develop a team that will be reviewing the TLE guidelines for principals and assistant principals. We anticipate having the review completed by the first week of October. The committee includes Deputy Supt. Lora, Dr, Katherine Hughes , all ILD's and four principals.
