Weekly Newsletter
A Message from Acting Principal Anita O'Neill
January 28, 2024
I hope everyone relished the delightful 70-degree day we experienced last Friday. What a contrast to the snowstorm we faced just the week before! While we anticipate a return to our regular winter weather soon, let's savor this brief break from the cold.
A friendly reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday, January 29, as our dedicated teachers engage in grading activities. Tuesday, January 30, marks the commencement of our second semester—a fresh start for all students across all classes. I encourage each student to embrace this new beginning with a positive mindset, committing to attend every class, every day, and giving their best effort. This commitment is pivotal for our staff to provide the best support for learning and success. Please refer to Tuesday's bell schedule, which allows time for students to visit homerooms and collect their schedules.
On Monday, MCPS maintenance will be on-site at Clarksburg to apply pesticide to specific areas of the school. Detailed information can be found below. Our rescheduled PTSA meeting, postponed due to snow, will now take place on Tuesday, January 30, at 7:00 pm in the Media Center. I eagerly anticipate meeting those who can attend.
This newsletter features essential information for seniors, details about spring sport registration (yes, it's that time already!), and updates on various student opportunities. Additionally, please take a few minutes to review crucial information from our counseling department and the college and career center.
Wishing you all a wonderful and resilient week ahead!

CHS Student Schedule Change Process (Once the second semester starts)
Second semester starts on January 30th.The schedule change request window will open back up and will run from February 9th to February 16th. Students can pick up schedule change request forms from their counselor in the counseling office starting February 9th before school starts, during lunch or after school. No schedule change requests will be considered after the February 16th deadline. Please note that schedule change requests do not include teacher changes or period swaps. Students should return their completed schedule change request form to their counselor. Once students submit their request, it will be evaluated by their teacher, counselor, and administrator. The student and family will then be notified of the final decision and, if approved, a schedule change will be made. Please see here for counselor assignments.
