Circle Park Clean-up activity
On Tuesday, October 5th, members of our Westfield Interact Club partnered with members of the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary club to pick up litter in Circle Park. We appreciate all of the group members volunteering their time to help make the shared space in Circle Park cleaner for everyone! Interact Club is a service oriented club that meets twice a month. If your child is interested in joining, please have them reach out to Mrs. Angela Foley at afoley@sd13.org.
Spectator policy for after-school events
In order to ensure the health and safety of our student athletes and performers, spectators for after school events will be limited to invited "home school" family members of the participants. The Coaches & Directors of each program will coordinate the family passes with students.
- Athletics: Each player on the team will receive a set number of family passes to be used at each Home Game. In addition, players can request to have additional family members added to an invite list for individual games. At this time, fans of the AWAY team will not be allowed to attend athletic events at any of the athletic conference school sites.
- Performing Arts: Each member of the performance group (Band, Choir, Drama) will receive passes for family members wishing to attend the performance. Only family members with passes will be allowed to enter the performance.
As a reminder, the Safe School Helpline is available on the Westfield website to anonymously report anything that may pertain to school safety or the safety of a District 13 student. If you or your child is ever aware of threats to the school or any student in our district please contact the helpline 24/7. It is free and confidential.
Have a wonderful extended weekend!

IMPORTANT: 6th Grade Parents
Please, remember to turn in all physical, immunization, medication forms, and emergency care plans to the Health Office as soon as possible. Remember to complete and sign the required parent portions as well! We have many 6th grade students who are still non-compliant!
[State of Illinois Health Requirements: Sixth-grade "students will NOT be able to attend school after October 15, 2021, until ALL required physical exams and immunizations are received."]
Thank you for attending to these important health mandates; this paperwork allows us to give your students excellent health care! Our goal is to keep them safe and healthy.

Pick Out Your Costume!
We are excited to announce that Student Council will be sponsoring our Fall/Costume dance. The dance will take place on Friday, October 29th from 6:00-8:00pm in the old gym. Wristbands for the dance will be $5.00 and sold during your child’s lunch the week of October 25th-29th. Each grade level will have a different colored wristband. These wristbands will be your child’s ticket into the dance as well as used for staggering concessions provided by the PTO.
Your child will be able to wear a costume but it is not required in order to enter the dance. Student Council will have a costume contest during the dance and a DJ will be playing music.
Please remember to always reference the student handbook for proper dress code.
No weapons of any sort or halloween masks covering the face. We need to see who the student is upon entry. Mandated masks will be required throughout the duration of the dance just like your child wears each day at school.
We look forward to a great night! Email Mrs. Hilden with any questions. (khilden@sd13.org)

Keep Your Student Compliant...and Eligible for Sports
- Parents must bring in their 6th-grader's full physical so that their student is compliant to be in school; 6th grade will automatically be good-to-go for sports as well.
- For 7th and 8th graders to be eligible to play sports, they need only a current sports physical on file with the nurse. Students CANNOT attend tryouts without a current physical on file.
- Questions? Email Mrs. Jones at bjones@sd13.org

Quarantining due to Close Contact
A Close Contact is anyone with whom the confirmed COVID case had close contact, within 3 feet, for at least 15 minutes throughout the course of 24 hours. Exposure on a bus must include everyone who sat within 3 feet of the confirmed or probable COVID case for 15 minutes or longer. At lunch, with masks removed, close contacts are anyone within 6 feet for 15 minutes or longer.
Westfield Middle School does not have to exclude all students in a classroom from attending school because a student in the classroom tested positive for COVID...Only those students who were Close Contacts with the confirmed student will be required to quarantine for 14 days. It is important for students to wear a mask & maintain 3-feet of social distance from others at all times.
If your child is quarantining at home:
A Remote Learning Support Teacher (RLST) will provide two and a half hours (2 ½) of daily contact for students using Google Meets.
A RLST will email each student and their parent/guardian with the link to join the support sessions.
Students are expected to work independently on their school work in conjunction with the 2 ½ hours of direct contact they receive from our RLST.
- Student work will be made available by each of their classroom teachers.
- Students and their parents/guardians should stay in regular contact with each teacher to determine the best method to access materials and resources.
- Individual teachers may exempt students from portions of the work that is missed or provide alternative activities for lessons that are difficult to recreate at home.
- Students will receive extended time to complete school work upon their return to the classroom.
