Principal's Message
At our recent staff meeting, we spent some time talking and discussing our safety procedures at school. We went over some key issues to share with our parents. Here's a brief list of parent points we want to share in order for you to help us always keep our students safe:
- We practice all kinds of safety procedures at OTES and work hard to make those experiences calm and matter of fact.
- We talk to our kids about being under "voice control" because we need them to listen to the adults quickly to make slipt second decisions for their safety.
- We will always protect our students first and send messages to our parents when the drill or emergency is at a point we feel we can communicate freely and take our immediate attention from the students.
- We are human, mistakes will happen, but we want to assure our families we will do everything possible to keep our students safe at OTES.
- We need your support and feedback because we always want to do our best by our students.
April 23 Is Bus Driver Appreciation Day: The K-Kids are making cards for our bus drivers with a few treats attached for Bus Driver Appreciation Day. We wanted to spread the word about Bus Driver Appreciation Day to our families in case you wanted to do something special for your child's bus driver too. They have a very important job and arriving safely to school and back can be very demanding---Let's show them we appreciate their efforts.
Next week is vacation and if your children are home, chances are you'll hear the phrase, "I'm bored!!!" more than once. Here a quick list of things they can do if they are bored:
- Write their bucket list
- Draw their dream home
- Practice outdoor photography
- Build a fort
- Write a letter
- Paint rocks
- Go on a picnic (snow will be melted!)
- Fly a kite
None of these things cost money. Take some time to make a list of things to do with your kids and see how many things they can cross off on their own.
