Does a person need empathy to create great art?
As an artist you need Empathy. Empathy means to understand someone else's feelings. In "from Letters to a Young Artist" by Anna Deavere Smith and "Zebra" by Chaim Potok. A person does need emathy to create great art. It may be possible that a person does not need empathy to create great art.
Empathy
A person needs empathy to create great art by an Artist needing to use their heart when creating great and if artists are empathetic they have more imagination in what they create.
First, Artists need to use their heart when creating great art. "Empathy is more useful and more important. It requires more rigor. That rigor will make you stronger of heart and spirt" (Pg 124, paragraph 5, by Anna Deavere Smith). This shows, to that because when someone has empathy they have a better imagination. This proves, a person does need empathy to create great art. Second, If artists are empathetic they have more imagination in what they create. "Empathy requires a very high developed imagination." (Pg 124, paragraph 5, by Anna Deavere Smith ). This shows, If an artist loves something it helps them to draw good. This proves, a person does need empathy to create great art.
Creating Great Art
Even if someone does not have empathy they can still create meaningful art. Even a artist didn't know anything about a specific thing than it wouldn't feel nice you have empathy if you loved the thing which shows you have empathy.
Inconclusion
In conclusion, an author needs empathy to create great art. Can you draw something that you don't have empathy for?
