CHLMA: EAGLE NEWS
Excellence Every Day, In Every Way! (March 29th)
CHLMA Family,
We have completed week 2 of online school! You all have done an amazing job ensuring that your student was engaged academically in this unprecedented time. THANK YOU! At this time we are still following the DeSoto ISD Distance Learning Plan with fidelity. (Click the buttons below to access the appropriate plan for your scholar teachers will also upload it into Google Classroom).
Our teachers have worked diligently to set up Google Classrooms for our scholars as one of the online platforms we will utilize for instruction in the upcoming weeks to support student learning. If your child has not been able to access their Google Classroom, please contact your child's teacher via ClassDojo or email. (Teacher email addresses are firstname.lastname@desotoisd.org)
As we continue to get updates from district officials, we will keep you posted. Again, thank you for your continued support of Cockrell Hill. #TogetherWeWill

Counselor's Corner
This is a very unusual time for all of us. Many of us are home with our families and it is very different because we are accustomed to the lives of constant go, go, go and spending limited amounts of time at home. While this arrangement is welcomed by some families, others may find the adjustment difficult.
I have found an article on Pinterest entitled Emotionally Healthy Families Practice These 7 Things Every Day. I did change some of the wording but here it is!
1. Eat at least one meal together.
2. Limit and Sensor screen time.
3. Communicate feelings with one another. (with acceptance and without judgment)
4. Enjoy outside activities together (at a social distance from others)
5. Implement and enforce schedules, rules, consequences, and chores.
6. Exercise together!
7. Extend grace to one another. No one is perfect.
Although we are home for a disturbing reason, this is our opportunity to enjoy one another and really become closer to our families. Even if you are working from home, get together during the student’s scheduled break times and have some family fun. These times are very critical for the mental well-being of the children as well as the parents. Please join your child in playing or taking a walk outside. Dust off the basketball and shoot a few hoops during break time. Laugh...a lot! We are going to need it.
