Magness Creek Elementary School
December 2017
Welcome Back!
Welcome back from our Thanksgiving Break. We have 3 weeks and 2 days of school until we get out for our Christmas Break. This month is filled with several activities. However, we try to keep everything as routine as possible and students focused on learning. This month teachers will be doing several assessments as the 9-weeks ends at Christmas Break. Teachers will be preparing report cards for the 2nd 9-week grading period as soon as we get back from the break. Report cards will go home at the end of the first full week of school in January.
November Bridge Builders
Milk and Cookies with Santa
One of our favorite nights of the year is our Milk and Cookies with Santa! PTO will be sending some information home about the fun and exciting evening. Be watching for a flyer with all the details. If you would like to order a pizza for your family, the order form is at the bottom of the flyer. Milk and Cookies with Santa will be Thursday, December 7th from 5:30 - 7:30.
Magness Creek Christmas Concert
Magness Creek will be having a Christmas Concert again this year. Last year, each class performed at our Milk and Cookies with Santa night. However, it was extremely crowded having it in conjunction with Milk and Cookies night. This year, we will be having our concert at First Baptist Church in Cabot. It will be on Tuesday, December 12 from 6:00 - 7:30. Each grade level will perform. We will send out a separate newsletter that will give you specific information about our concert. We look forward to a great evening of seeing our children perform.
K-Kids Santa Shop
Our K-Kids will be hosting our Santa's Shop again this year. This is one of their major events during the year that helps them raise money to provide a scholarship to a 2018
graduating senior. The K-Kids will be opening their Santa Shop on Thursday, November 30th.
Class Christmas Parties
Class Christmas Parties will be held on Monday, December 18th. Each class will schedule their own time and activities. Be watching for information in the newsletter your child's teacher sends home.
Polar Express Day and Early Dismissal
Tuesday, December 19th will be our last day before the Christmas Break. This is the day we have set aside for our Polar Express Day! Students may wear PJ's to school for our Polar Express Day. Each teacher will be letting their students watch the movie The Polar Express at some point in time that day. Our wonderful cafeteria staff will be providing cookies. We will also have some hot chocolate as they board The Polar Express! Also, we will be dismissing at 2:00 on this day.
Updated Information
Often times through the year, families may have changes in phone number, Emergency Contact information, etc. If there have been any changes in your child's information, please let the office staff know. Also, we always seem to have some families that move over the Christmas Break. If you will be moving and your child will not be returning after Christmas Break, please notify your child's teacher and the office.
Second Semester Begins January 4th
Students will return from Christmas Break on Thursday, January 4th. That will be the first day of the second semester of this school year. It is important for your child to be at school every day that he/she is not sick. This stretch of time from January until Spring Break, we cover a lot of core instructional standards that all students need to master. Most of the instruction that occurs in the classroom cannot be duplicated by sending home work for students to do. If your child is sick, he/she needs to stay home. However, every day of school is very important in terms of your child's education. Thank you for putting a priority on your child's learning.
