Principal's Weekly Message
January 29th, 2016
Week in Review
Today we also had the Bluebonnet Award Party for students who have read at least five of this year's Bluebonnet Award nominated books. More than 50 students attended the celebration in the library and they had a great time.
On Monday we move into February and with that comes our Fun Run. We are excited about this event and appreciate your support as we conduct our annual fundraiser. Have a great weekend!
SPARK Announcement
Hidden Forest Elementary School is one of four schools in NEISD selected to turn its school playground into a community/school park, called a SPARK (School Park Program). We are very excited to announce that our SPARK park is complete!
The SPARK a joint effort between NEISD, the PTA, the San Antonio City Council, and San Antonio Sports. On February 12 at 8:30am, we will host a ribbon-cutting event to officially open the park and welcome the community.
Once complete, the SPARK park will be open to the public from sunrise to sunset on Saturdays, Sundays, and school holidays. The park will also be open during the week after school at 6:30 p.m. until sunset. The SPARK park will be closed when school is in session or when use of the SPARK school ground is necessary for school purposes.
The new park features a brand new track and grassy field. Students and families will have lots of room to play and have fun.
Thank you for your support and patience during this transformation. If you see any suspicious activity after hours at the SPARK park, please call our North East Police Department at 407-0911.

2016-2017 Hidden Forest PTA - Call for Nominating Committee
A PTA can be no more effective than it's leadership. At the upcoming General PTA meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd PTA general membership will be electing the nominating committee that will be charged with putting together a slate of officers for the upcoming 2016 - 2017 school year. The Nominating Committee is a special committee that holds the key to a successful PTA. Per our Hidden Forest Elementary PTA bylaws the committee will consist of five (5) members and two (2) alternates. If you are interested in serving on this committee and/or finding out more about the process, please contact Judy Wheeler, Parliamentarian at jkemplewheeler@gmail.com.
Habit of the Week: Habit 4 - Think Win-Win
Quote of the Week: “Whoever is happy will make others happy too.” -Anne Frank
Home Connection: Some people in our world do not have access to clean water or they have to walk far to get it. We all play a part in taking care of our Earth. Use a Lotus Diagram to help you synergize and write down how you can save water at home and at school. Have your family discuss how this is a win for the family/school and the environment.
