Cougar Team Update
From: Mrs. Lampe, Mrs. Boice, Mrs. Eisenhofer
Week 3: September 7-11th
A few housekeeping items: Please help your student remember to bring their ear buds to school each day, it is very important that they have them.
Also, to keep up on your student classwork, please look in your students iCal account OR the teacher's Weebly blog. Each teacher now has a Weebly account, you can find the link below.
If you were unable to attend the 6th grade field trip meeting on Thursday, and your student thought they might be wanting to go on the OBX trip, we have sent home paperwork with them today. Please look over the paperwork and plan to make your $50 deposit by October 5th. If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete the chaperone form and return it to the school ASAP.
Language Arts/Social Studies
We spent the week in Language Arts practicing how to evaluate text. We learned how to dig into the text to find proof to support our answers. We also had some great discussion about the effects of too much texting on young adults.
Next week we will be working on figurative language as well as determining the meaning and tone of words.
In Social Studies we looked at the 5 Themes of Geography. For homework this week in social studies they are to pick a location in the world and answer questions in Blackboard about their chosen location. Next Friday students will use their inferencing skills to see if they can figure out what locations their fellow students picked.
To follow what is being taught each week, please check out my Weebly page. I will be posting what we completed each day as well as what is expected to be completed. I will still be updating the iCal each week as well.
Mrs. Lampe-
Math
In our short four day week, the goal was to master the concept of Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple. This meant a review of factoring, multiples and prime numbers. In order to ensure that students have learned the week goals, students will continuing spiraling back to lessons from previous weeks throughout the quarter for homework and during center rotations.
