Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Dragon Family:
I hope everyone had a restful and Happy Thanksgiving week. We are grateful for the time off and opportunities to see friends and family. On behalf of the entire PHS staff, we are also grateful for the support of our parents and community. This is truly an aspect of Purcell that sets it apart from other schools and communities.
One of my core visions for PHS is to incorporate service learning opportunities for all students. This is an opportunity to combine traditional pieces of school: curriculum, learning, and assessments with projects that give back to your school or community. It doesn't need to be complicated or time-consuming. For example, our Adulting class, led by Zoe Swift, spent an hour last week helping our custodians clean and prep the gym for a Friday night game. Our Leadership class, led by Krysta Matthews, has identified specific needs in our school and community and developed solutions and initiatives to meet those needs. Our Spanish club, led by Mayra Munoz, has delivered care packages to Senior Centers and our Police Department.
These opportunities and others like them help build and reinforce values that are well established in this community: service, kindness, and empathy. Most importantly, I think it's helping students realize the true purpose of civic engagement. Too often today I think we've mistaken civic engagement to be yelling at each other on social media or taking sides in divided political debates. Service learning projects help students realize the real value of getting involved in your community. Hopefully it will encourage students to pursue careers that are based on serving your community.
I'm proud of our teachers and students leading this effort.
Jason

Katie Clayton: November Staff Member of the Month
Congratulations to Katie Clayton our PHS November Staff Member of the Month. Katie is a special education teacher and sets an example everyday for kids with her kindness, positivity, and her commitment to serving kids. We are so proud of her. Please read tributes below from her colleagues:
Katie works hard in the classroom to give her students a good education, while multitasking with meetings, resource room needs and emotional support for her students.
She did a superb job on the Veteran's Day Assembly. Everything ran smoothly, the students knew exactly what to do and it went off without a hitch. I was so impressed and proud for her.
Katie has brought tremendous change to the Sped department. The children in that room are thriving and she deserves every bit of recognition!

Congratulations Carolyn Anyong!
Carolyn's primary responsibilities at PHS include curriculum leadership, student behavior, and attendance. She has quickly proven to be a valuable resource throughout our school and I appreciate her work ethic and commitment to kids.

Welcome (back!) to PHS Mindy Wells

GoFan Online Ticketing
The new ticketing policy allows Purcell High School to operate a more efficient and professional ticket gate while creating a safer and enhanced fan experience. Buying tickets online allows fans to access and share tickets easily by email or text without standing in line.
Fans are encouraged to buy tickets online prior to reaching the facility. For your convenience, signage will be set up at the venue to help fans navigate an online purchase quickly and easily.
We understand this is a change and there will be bumps along the way. However we think our fans will quickly see how easy it is to buy a ticket, share a ticket with family, and quickly access an event. I've shared some helpful links below which will provide extra help with the process.
