Garden of Eden

God has created a perfect and beautiful garden for the first man he had formed, Adam. It was believed that the garden was on top of a mountain or perhaps on an outlet of freshwater springs. The garden offered Adam food and a source of fresh water. God had put Adam in the garden so he would tend to it. God sent Adam into a deep sleep and performed a surgery. God used Adam’s rib to create Eve. God made Eve out of his own pleasure. Creating Eve was God’s original idea. God then showed Adam the blueprints for her creation, and Eve was then created. In the beautiful garden where Adam and Eve lived there were trees that gave them food and they were dominate over all the animals. God only gave them one rule and it was not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Satan came to Eve in a form of a serpent and tempted Eve to eat the fruit. The serpent said it would make Eve equal with God and that she would now all that he does. Once Eve ate the fruit so did Adam once they ate the fruit they knew that they had wronged God and they would be punished for it. Because they ate the fruit their eyes were opened and they were ashamed that they were naked and tried to create clothes to hide themselves. Their punishments were that Eve would have to bear children and Adam would have to work even harder than before. God had told Adam and Eve that once they ate the fruit they would die. When they ate the fruit they were spiritually separated from God. They would soon become sick and die along with the whole world. Adam and Eve had many children but their first born would kill their second son. Instead of living forever Adam only lived to be 930 years old.

Adam was the the first man created by God on the sixth day of creation. God created Adam from dust then breathed life into him. Adam was different from all the animals that God created because he had been made up of physical and spiritual attributes. Through the information given we can tell that Adam is a hardworking, obedient, and reverent towards God. Adam was created in the image of God. Although Adam is faithful and obedient to god he was tempted by eve to eat from the tree of good and evil despite being told not to by God.

Eve was created as Adam's companion, the two were persons of innocence until Eve yielded to the temptations of the evil serpent and Adam joined her in eating the forbidden fruit, whereupon they both recognized their nakedness and donned fig leaves as garments. Immediately God recognized their transgression and proclaimed their punishments. The depiction of Eve is from the western beliefs were they thought that all women are by nature disobedient, guileless, weak-willed, prone to temptation and evil, disloyal, untrustworthy, deceitful, seductive, and motivated in their thoughts and behaviour purely by self-interest.

Original Sin

Satan, an angel that fell due to his pride and desire to be God, not a servant of God, deceived Eve and convinced her she would be better off without God’s guidance. Satan spoke to Eve through a serpent and began to tell her she would become like God if she ate from the forbidden fruit. Satan presented disobedience to God as an appealing course that would lead to enlightenment and freedom. Eve believed Satan’s lie. She began to desire the fruit, and then she actually ate some of it. Later she gave some to her husband, and he also ate it. Thus they became sinners. That seemingly simple act is considered the Original Sin and was actually an expression of rebellion. By deliberately choosing to disobey God’s command, Adam and Eve rejected the rule of the Creator who had given them everything, including perfect life.

Land of Nod

The Land of Nod is where Cain went, when he was exiled from where Adam and Eve lived. It was desolate, and not a good place to live. It was the land where Cain’s ancestors lived out their punishment. It was towards the east of Eden. It is inhabited by the outcasts of society and is a harsh place to live. Normal people don’t go there and leave it to those who already live there.
