Look Beyond the Minimum Eligibility: Admit Rates, Selectivity and Eligibility v Selectivity
When creating a college list, you must consider how likely you are to be admitted into each school. Terms like Reach, Target and Safety Schools are often used but what do they mean?
College Admit Rates (From College Essay Guy)
College Admit Rates (From College Essay Guy)
Likely: High chance 61% or higher admit rates
Maybe: You fall between 26% and 60% admit rates
Reach: Any school with 11%-25% admit rate or lower and you are below the 25th percentile
Wild Card: Any school with 1-10% admit rates
What is a Selective College Admit Rate?
Highly Selective 4-20%
Selective 20-30%
Eligibility v Selectivity
If planning on going to an impacted and/or selective college must go beyond the minimum eligibility both in and out of the classroom to become a more competitive applicant.
