Lawrence Brook Weekly Update
Learn about the exciting news and events happening at LB!
October 3, 2022
Dear Lawrence Brook Elementary School Families:
October is a busy month at Lawrence Brook Elementary School. Students have settled into the school year and have been hard at work in their classrooms engaging with the curriculum and building relationships with their teachers and peers. The events and special programs we have coming up in the weeks ahead aim to enrich our students' educational experiences. Thank you for your participation!
As a reminder, our school community is participating in programming this week for the annual Week of Respect. Teachers and staff have enjoyed planning various age-appropriate lessons and activities focused on character education and preventing harassment, intimidation and bullying.
This evening, we have our second PTA meeting of the year. Please see information below in the "PTA News and Updates" section of this newsletter.
Looking ahead, we have Picture Day coming up on October 10, the Scholastic Book Fair on October 12 and Walk to School Day on October 18. During the school day on October 18, students will also participate in the PTA sponsored TALEWISE assembly, a fun, interactive and educational S.T.E.A.M. presentation.
Additionally, Halloween is just a few weeks away, and we are looking forward to our Halloween Parade, class parties, and the PTA Trunk or Treat. The PTA Trunk or Treat is scheduled for the evening of October 26 with a rain date of October 28. I will send more detailed information as the parade nears, but for planning purposes, the parade will take place at approximately 2:00 PM on October 31 and families will be welcome to line up outside around the blacktop and sidewalk along the front of the school building to watch the parade. Please know that, for safety reasons, costume masks that cover a child's eyes or entire face are not permitted in school. We ask parents to be thoughtful of the school-appropriateness of costume props and accessories, as well. Class parties will take place after the parade. Please note that only approved class volunteers will be permitted into the building that day for the class parties.
Wow! There sure are many exciting events to look forward to. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Main Office with questions about upcoming events. Have a wonderful week, Lawrence Brook community!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Dunn
Principal

Giving Bean Coffee Fundraiser
Giving Bean is a high-quality coffee roaster and tea blender. It's all a simple and delicious way for people to help support us....BUT we need your help to spread the word! Our Goal: The PTA is going to provide amazing assemblies, author visits, school parties, Trunk or Treat, the return of the beloved International Night, and so much more. With the support of our parents our goal is to raise $6,000 during this fundraiser! All you need is a Seller ID# first (Click here to set one up). Then take some time to contact local friends and neighbors about Giving Bean. Be confident that these products are excellent, AND know we will be making 40% on EVERY purchase! Send an appeal with our LB PTA order form link asking folks to buy their next coffee and tea from Giving Bean (don’t forget to mention your Seller ID #). Please contact Bridget, VP Fundraising, with any questions.
Pssssssst.....have you heard about Givebacks and The Givebacks Challenge? A new super EZ way, similar to Rakuten and TopCashback, to support the LBS PTA while shopping online! Sign up link is available on MemberHub, and after your first purchase with a vendor that is supported by Givebacks, LBS PTA will receive $5 for each new account and a portion of the sale! Friends and Family can create an account as well. Just select Lawrence Brook School PTA as your chosen cause and add the extensions after account creation. Go to www.givebacks.com and Join the Magical Movement!
The Givebacks Challenge (expires 2 weeks after the newsletter):
25 active accounts and LBS PTA will receive an additional $250!
50 active accounts and LBS PTA will receive $500!

Donate to the 4th Grade Moving Up Committee
Let’s make the last year at Lawrence Brook their best year yet! A monetary donation to support the 4th grade will assist with purchasing t-shirts, yearbooks, end of the year swag bags, event décor and provide experiences such as a spring social, yearbook social, end of the year camp trip, and moving up ceremony for all the 4th graders. Double your donation by asking your company if they will match charitable donations. LBS PTA is a 501c3 organization (tax id: 22-3146372). Donations can be made through MemberHub.
