Principal's Post
The school year is going quickly! We are super grateful to be able to participate in some of the regular school practices that are so engaging. We want to thank our Andover firefighters for coming out to our school and sharing about fire safety. Our students were good listeners during the presentation, and very curious about fire safety and how are firefighters serve our community.
We will be having our veterans day program on November 10 to honor our Crooked Lake community veterans. We have a breakfast, walk of honor, and brief presentation to honor those who served. Please let us know if you have a family member who you would like to honor.
During the month of November we are focused on gratitude. We define gratitude as choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Our classrooms will continue to have a Character Strong focus on a word for each month for the course of the year.
We do have some important dates to remember.
No school Tuesday November 8 (Election day)
Picture day is Friday, November 11 Go to Mylifetouch.com School ID EVT2TZSW2
No school November 23
End of the Trimester is December 1
No school December 2
No school December 5
A special thank you to our PTO for all of the work they have been putting in with our community picnic, Eveland Family Farm. These events give us a chance to connect as a community, and are so important to our school community. PTO will be providing another community building opportunity coming up on Thursday, November 17. Doors will open for movie night at 6:00, and concessions can be purchased. The students will be voting as a student body for the movie they would like to watch. See more details in the PTO section below, or if you would like to donate or volunteer please see our Volunteer Voice section below.
We would like to thank all of our families for having a consistent dismissal plan for your child. If you are a picking up your child in your vehicle please avoid blocking buses from entering the parking lot, and consider parking if it will help the flow of traffic.
Thank you for all you are doing for our students as we prepare for cold weather. Recess is more fun when you are warm in the proper clothing.
Take care.

Reedy's Report
Hello Crooked Lake,
As the temperatures continue to drop and we move towards winter, please make sure your children have plenty of warm clothing for recess and other outside activities. We can provide cold-weather gear if needed. Please let someone at the school know if your child needs something.
Several holidays are coming up and with them come additional expenses. Some of our generous community partners have agreed to support a limited number of families this year. If you think you may need some help this year, please reach out. The sooner you let us know, the better, as the limited slots go quickly.
Finally, if you are grappling with mental health issues, please tell someone at the school or a loved one or call 988. If you want, someone will be there to talk to you and find you services. If it’s an emergency, please call 911.

All student meals must meet the federal guidelines for types and amounts of food offered. In addition, they must be appealing to students so they are consumed. A departmental advisory committee consisting of staff from elementary, middle and high schools and a department administrator, plus student focus and advisory groups all contribute to menu development and product choices. Menus are reviewed and adjusted periodically to reflect changing customer tastes and new products. Nutritional information for menu items can be found on the district website.
Parents and guardians of Anoka-Hennepin students can now access even more information online about their student's child nutrition account. To manage your account, click the lock and key icon, login and select the MyStudentInformation icon. Payments may also be made by sending a check directly to your child's school after the start of school. If sending a check to the school, please attach a note to the check "lunch money" or note it in the memo section of the check it their student ID. If you must send cash with your child to school for a payment please send it in an envelope with your child's name and student ID written on the outside. This will help ensure that the money you send will be deposited into the correct account.
Thanks!

Crooked Lake's Evening at Eveland Farm Enjoyed by Many...
Many of our Crooked Lake students and families enjoyed an evening at Eveland Farm on Thursday, October 13 from 4:30-6:30pm. The cool evening didn't deter families from enjoying the hayride, meeting the animals, toasting marshmallows, picking out pumpkins, and enjoying the hot dogs and soup provided by the Crooked Lake PTO. The PTO puts on this annual event, which is a fundraiser for the 5th grade 3-day/2-night trip to Long Lake Nature Center in May. This year's event netted over $1900! This amount will go far in making the trip more affordable for 5th grade families.
As many of you know, visiting the farm includes an admission fee. The Eveland family generously gifts the admission fees collected at our event back to Crooked Lake. Additionally, they allow us to use their facilities for selling concessions to our families. We are grateful to the Eveland family for this generous contribution to the fundraiser, and for the wonderful partnership over the years.
The Crooked Lake PTO and 5th Grade Teachers would like to thank all who came, and for supporting this important educational opportunity.
NEW Online School Store Coming Soon...
Many of you have been asking when Spirit Wear Sales and Eagle Gear will become available for sale. This year, the PTO is trying out a new vendor who will allow us to set up a school store year round, offering more variety, comparable prices, and easy shipping. The new vendor supports our school by providing $2.00 per item kick-back to the school, paid out once per year. Stay tuned...more communication to follow once the set up of our website is complete, for sure in time for Holiday gifts.
Family Movie Night November 17th!
CLS PTO and the 4th grade class invites all CLS families to join us for Movie Night in the school! Grab your blankets, pillows, and stuffies to come watch a movie for FREE in our school gym. Students will get a chance to vote for their favorite movie choice we'll feature during Election week. Popcorn, candy, and drinks will be sold before and during the movie. Concession sales benefit the 4th grade class Kindness Retreat! More info coming home soon.
