Valentines Party and Box Contest Information

The class Valentine's party will be held on Thursday, February 13th from 1:40-2:25pm.

Students are welcome to pass out Valentines if they wish! To save time, we ask that students leave the "To" section blank, and instead have your child write their name in the "From" section.

We will also hold a vote that day in four different areas of box design! Details can be found below!

Our fabulous room parents are needing your help! Volunteers are needed to sell Smencils (scented pencils) during all lunch periods, between February 7-February 13.

Smencils are being sold to help cover the cost of the special End-of-Year party for our fifth graders. It will be a day full of fun at Strikz.

Symphony Field Trip - February 18th

Smith 5th graders will be attending the Symphony on Tuesday, February 18th. Please return the permission and complete payment in online school fees by Monday, February 3rd. Students should dress nicely, no jeans or shorts. We will be returning after their regular lunch time, so each student will need to pack a lunch from home or may purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria. Lunches are to be ordered in advance on the permission form. Please contact Laura Alleman at if you have any questions.

The deadline to pay dues was last Monday! Please be sure to make your payment as soon as possible!

Recess Reminders

  • Texas weather is unpredictable. Please send your child with the appropriate outerwear. If the "feels like" temperature is above 32 degrees we will go outside for at least part of our recess time.
  • Students are allowed to bring items such as Rubik's cubes to brain break and recess. Please remind your child that it is their responsibility to keep track of their items and that they bring them at their own risk.

2019-2020 Class Parties Payment

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The PTA helps with the class parties by collecting money, organizing the room parents and handling all reimbursements.

This year, we are asking to please send in your onetime class party donation of $12.00 cash or check (payable to Smith PTA) to cover all three class parties for the year. These include the Winter Ball, Valentine’s Day Party, & the End of the Year Party. You can also pay online

Please disregard this reminder if you have already paid. If you haven’t, please pay as soon as possible as it helps the Room Parents to plan out the three parties for our kids.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact Katie Augustine, PTA Treasurer: email
