Kind Campus Update - The Benefits of Laughter

Laughter can be fun, silly, and create connection. It also carries many cognitive and health benefits, making it a great tool in our self-kindness practice. The Mayo Clinic confirms benefits including decreased blood pressure, reduced stress hormone levels, soothed tension, toned abdominal muscles, improved cardiac health and immune system, increased endorphins, and improved sense of general well-being. Additionally, laughter can help lessen stress, depression, and anxiety and may make you feel happier. It can also improve your self-esteem. While it is not healthy to ignore negative emotions, finding the right place for humor and laughter in our lives can help people remain resilient in the face of adverse circumstances. Professor George Bonanno notes, “Humor keeps negative emotions in check and gives us a different perspective, allowing us to see some of the bad things that happen to us as a challenge rather than a threat.” Giving yourself the time to let loose and laugh is great self-care!

As you may remember, TUSD has partnered with Concentric by Ginkgo to provide an optional and completely free COVID pooled testing program.

To opt-in, please fill out the consent form with your permission to have your child participate in the weekly COVID-19 pooled testing at our school. If you completed this form last year, you do not need to complete it again. This process should take no more than 5 minutes to complete using a computer or a smartphone.

  1. First, click here (https://testcenter.concentricbyginkgo.com/minor-consent).
  2. Then, enter this access code: TUSD-CARRILLO1 (all CAPS)
  3. Finally, enter your child’s information, and you’re done!

Note: If you need to provide consent for more than one child, please complete the process once for each child. Please note this consent is for the entire school year (Including Summer programs in June) and includes participation in the pool test and any follow-up rapid antigen test to provide “quick tests” for any individual in a positive pool.

Thank you!
