New Parent Drop Off Loop Procedures Begin TOMORROW
New Parent Drop Off Loop Procedures Begin TOMORROW, Wednesday, November 17
Hello Meadows families,
Earlier this week you should have received notice from Dr. Matthews that our district will be modifying the busing process. Due to a driver shortage, there will be buses that do not run on a certain day of the week. The following list shows what busses will NOT run on what days:
Monday - busses B, E, G, X will not run
Tuesday - busses D, I, J, R, T will not run
Wednesday - busses H, K, N, W, Y will not run
Thursday - busses A, F, O, P, S will not run
Friday - busses L, Q, U, V will not run
As a result, we will need to change our drop off and pick up procedures for NM students to
accommodate extra car traffic. These changes will take effect TOMORROW, Wednesday, November 17.
5th grade
Students will now be dropped off/picked up at the back door of the 5th grade house. Cars will enter the same driveway off of Taft Rd. as before, however, now you will drive to the rear parking lot behind NM 5 and circle the perimeter of the lot. (Cars are not permitted to cut through the aisles of the lot.)
Students should be dropped along the sidewalk or coned off areas that have yellow striping next to the building. Students will then follow the sidewalk to the back door. For safety reasons, students may not be dropped off in the center of the parking lot and parents should not park their cars and walk students to the door. Cars will exit the way they entered. (See attached Map and Video)
6th grade
Students will still be dropped off on the south end of the 6th grade house. Cars will use the same driveway as before, however, now you may drop students along the entire perimeter of the parking lot along the sidewalk or coned off areas. This area extends along the 6th grade house, back parking lot and Novi Woods sidewalk. For safety reasons, students may not be dropped off in the center of the parking lot and parents should not park their cars and walk students to the door. Cars will exit the way they entered. (See attached Map and Video)
Helpful information:
Please consider carpooling to decrease the number of vehicles that are in the line each day.
If you carpool with students in both 5th and 6th, you can drop them all off at either location. You
do not need to wait in both lines.
Consider leaving home a little earlier to plan for a longer line.
We will have staff outside to help guide parents as they get used to this new process.
In the areas where there is not a sidewalk but only yellow lines showing the drop off areas, wewill also have cones to help you see the space.
If you can avoid making a left turn out onto Taft Road, that will help prevent a backup of cars.
Please have your student ready to exit the vehicle. They should not be saying their goodbyes,
packing up backpacks, locating their masks, or going to another part of the car for an instrumentwhile you are in the drop off area.
Please be courteous to other drivers. Everyone is in a hurry and has someplace to be. Make
sure SAFETY is your first priority.
