A Note From The Principal
BGV Families,
If you are like me, the warm temperatures, blue sky, and bright sunshine are pulling at you to avoid the daily grind of work and get outside to enjoy family and nature. In fact, if it were not for the amazing staff and students that make school a wonderful place to be, I would have a really hard time getting to work in the morning. It takes a little more passion and perseverance, or grit, to keep me focused on finishing the year strong.
And, If you are like me, you probably are starting to get tired of messages of grit. If you are, good. I’m sticking with it and not letting it go. Grit is incredibly important for us to focus on, especially when the pull of Spring is so strong. Why? According to Angela Duckworth, Grit is more important than IQ, social intelligence, good looks, or physical health in predicting if a person is going to be successful in life.
If you are like me, you are again asking yourself this question, “If grit is so important, how are we building grit in our kids?” Angela tells us that the best answer is to help our students have a growth mindset. This is because those that have a growth mindset believe that failure is not a permanent condition, but that they can grow and change. They know that when they don’t succeed the first time, they will eventually. They just are not there, yet.
As the school year quickly closes, we have lots of learning left to reflect on. This year has been a year like no other and through the support and continued hard work of parents, staff, students, and everyone else in the community, we have made it a successful year.
Thanks,
Mr. Meyers

We made it! We had such a successful year of in-person learning! I am so thankful that we got to spend the entire year together. I am thankful to have been able to work with the best kiddos. And I am thankful to have been able to learn and grow as a teacher in this little school for the last 4 years. Thank you so much, Bruneau, for everything you have given me. Have a wonderful summer!
4/5 Mrs. Pearson
This past month, 4th grade has been working really hard on learning the standard algorithm for long division, earning 100 percent proficiency on Reflex for multiplication and division facts, and Mrs. Farfan had an ice cream sundae party to reward the students for the math facts they passed off this year! 5th graders have been working on completing 5th grade math on Khan academy and finishing their study of multiplying and dividing fractions in word problems. Shout out to the 5th graders for beating the state average on the math ISAT by a very large percentage!
