WI Bus Drive Appreciation Week

This week (Feb 14-18) is Wisconsin School Bus Driver Appreciation Week! If you click on the attached picture, you can print off a copy and have your child(ren) color the page and hand this to your bus driver as a way of showing appreciation!

Sora Online E-Book Check-out is SOARING!

In the 2021 calendar year, Sora had over 1 million checkouts from the 200+ participating districts. Huge milestone! Franklin remained at the top with checkouts (and still is up there) with a whopping 42,024 checkouts last year. Thank you to the teachers who have helped to promote this! A special thanks to our ITL aides in our libraries for showing the students how to access the ebooks and magazines one on one, by class, small group, or just by walking down the hall talking to a student about ebooks. You are all wonderful and are helping the students to pursue their love of reading!

Franklin Little League Winter Workouts For 13-16 Year Olds

This Winter season we are excited to announce that we have put together a great off-season training program for some of our older players!

Workouts will include Fielding, Pitching, Catching, Hitting, and Base-Running. Thursdays, January 20th through March 10th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex Fieldhouse (6000 W. Ryan Road).

News From Our Food Service Department

Here are a few important reminders regarding students lunches and the snack line:

  • Student ID's are Required for all students in the Lunchroom.

  • To make a Purchase in Our Snack Line Students are REQUIRED to have their ID! If they do not have their ID they can not make a purchase in this line.

  • 2 Lines are designated for Students to Scan their ID when getting their lunch.

  • We do understand at times students may forget their ID or even lose their ID, for this reason we have 1 Line designated for these students and these students ONLY!

  • The No ID Line is not for Students that are refusing to bring their ID or for whatever reason are not purchasing a new one. Please ask your student if they are using this line daily and if they are please encourage them to be responsible, to be respectful of the students that made a mistake & kitchen staff, bring their ID & use the correct line.

  • Pushing, Shoving, Swearing, Being Loud, Disrespectful or Destructive in Line will get them sent to the end of the line.

  • Stealing of any kind is unacceptable, this includes but is not limited to putting items in their pockets, taking more than one item or using another student's ID to purchase something. All incidents will be reported to the administration.

On-Site Testing

As we shared in the District Newsletter, we offer an On-site COVID-19 Testing center at the ECC District Office on weekdays from 7am to 5pm for students, staff, and family/household members of positive student or staff cases or anyone deemed a close contact. If you are contacted by our main office at the school that your child is symptomatic and needs to be picked up or released from school, you now have the opportunity between 7am to 5pm to take your child to the ECC District Office for COVID-19 testing.

Please review this document for other details and questions you may have about how this will work. Testing is another mitigation strategy to help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools.

Don't Forget Your Coat

All students will continue to go outside for recess even as the weather gets colder. The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature. Students do not go outdoors if it is raining/snowing or if the temperature falls below 0 degrees wind chill. Please encourage your students to dress appropriately as they will continue to go outside for recess. This includes bringing a coat, hat and gloves.

Did Your Student Lose Their Student ID?

Students can purchase a new student ID by bringing $5 (cash only!) to the main office. Student IDs take approximately one week to get printed/shipped to us from the photography company. Once we receive the replacement we will get the new ID to your student.


Our registration is now open for next school year for new families to the district and next year’s 4K. You can find all the necessary details on our website here. Please note that students already enrolled in our schools do not have to have a new registration completed. You may utilize the “Create Account” and “Forgot Password” buttons on the registration page to complete your registration or gain access if you have created an account in the past. Please help us share that registration is open with any new families to the area or those with younger children that would be entering 4K or 5K!

Absence Notification Procedures

Please remember to use our attendance form for ANY attendance related notification including students leaving early, arriving late or full day absences.

Like last year, we will be asking parents/guardians to use THIS FORM to report student absences. The attendance form is also located as a button on the main school webpage and under the “Parents Information” section.

This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team.

Early Dismissals & Late Arrivals

If you come to pick up your student during the school day, we ask that you do not enter our building but instead pull up into the circle driveway outside of our main office. Your student will be watching for you and we will send them out to your car when they see that you have arrived. If you are waiting longer than a few minutes for your student, you may call our main office to check in (414-529-8250).

If you are dropping your student off late for any reason, you do not need to come into the school with your student. Please pull into our circle driveway outside of the main office where your student can enter and check in. We will give your student a pass to class and update their attendance at that time.

Please remember to use THIS FORM for ANY attendance related notification including students leaving early, arriving late or full day absences. Please do not send notes with your student to notify us of these changes.

Dropping something off for your student?

If you are dropping off a forgotten item for your student (lunch, Chromebook, etc.), please use our drop off cart located inside the main entrance near the office. To limit the amount of traffic in/out of our main office, we ask that you leave the item(s) on the cart and clearly label the item(s) with your student's first and last name. Post it notes and pens are provided on the cart.

In an effort to reduce the amount of interruptions to students and teachers in the classroom, most items will be delivered to students during their 3rd hour class unless the item is clearly needed right away (for example, the student's Chromebook). If an item is dropped off after 3rd hour, we will get the item to the student as soon as possible.
