In Touch with TG

January 13, 2023

Dear Toll Gate Families,

Please remember Monday, Jan. 16th is the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr and school is closed. The HV community is offering many ways to participate in a day "ON" instead of a day off. Look for ways to engage your children in conversations about service and the benefits of helping others.

Our Day of Service will be Friday, Jan. 27th and there is a lot of preparation that goes into this event. Please read the information below carefully so you are aware of how you can help the day be successful.

Any amount of help, whether it is a donation of a box of crayons, silly putty or a child's journal is welcomed. We also welcome volunteers to help in classrooms and organize the materials to fill the boxes.

There are collection boxes outside each classroom door for donations.

I hope to see everyone this evening at the PTO Meeting at 7 pm tonight on Zoom.

Take care,

TG Night at Sumo Sushi | Jan. 24

The Grade 5 Committee has coordinated a Toll Gate Night at Sumo Sushi in Pennington on Tuesday, January 24th.

Sumo Sushi offered to host a night where a portion of the proceeds go back to Toll Gate 5th Grade Committee. Can we put something in the newsletter about this? I'm attaching the flyer.

They said to mention Toll Gate - this applies to restaurant and takeout orders. They are creating a special TG Roll as well. Tuesday, January 24.

Principal Read Aloud This Week

Big picture

Continuing with our monthly theme of Perseverance from the Character Strong read aloud suggestions.

Each of us, from the day we're born, is accompanied by a special companion—the Yet. Can't tie your shoes? Yet! Can't ride a bike? Yet! Can't play the bassoon? Don't worry, Yet is there to help you out.

The Magical Yet is the perfect tool for parents and educators to turn a negative into a positive when helping children cope with the inevitable difficult learning moments we all face. Whether a child or an adult, this encouraging and uplifting book reminds us that we all have things we haven't learned...yet!
