How is Sydney?

General information

Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populated city in Australia and Oceania. It is located in the south east of Australia. Lots of people visit Sydney every year. It has 4,840,600 inhabitants.

History

It is a very old city. People lived there since prehistory but the modern story of the city began the 14th of January 1788 when 11 ships from Britan arrived at Sydney. The ships were called the First Fleet. It took more than 250 days.

Important monuments

Sydney has changed a lot since 1788 . Now its a modern city and has lots of thins to visit: The opera House is identified as one of the most distinctive buildings of the 20th century.It was designed by John Utzon. It was opened the 20th of October 1973. It cost 102 million dollars.

You can also see the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is 1,149 meters long and 134 meters above the sea level. The bridge´s construction was finished the 19th of January 1932 but it took 9 years to be built.

Climate

The climate of Sydney is temperate, there are hot summers and mild winters. Rainfall is mainly regular.

There are many things to do: you can go sightseeing, you can go to theaters and concerts and you can also do outdoor activities.

Main industries

The main industries are tourism, manufacturing and mining.There is also a very good education.

I think Sydney is a beautiful city, you can do lots of things,you can have fun and there is an interesting culture. I would like to visit it.
