Hansen Weekly Update
June 12, 2020
Hello Hansen Students and Families!
We are so close to wrapping up this most unique school year! As we find ourselves with seven school days remaining, I want to again thank the entire Hansen community of students, parents/guardians, and staff for your patience, flexibility, and unwavering support this school year. Even through remote experiences, our connections with each other remain strong, and in many cases, became even stronger!
Please take a moment to read the information below regarding the end of year materials pick-up that is scheduled to take place next week. Our staff worked hard to pack materials for each individual student, and while we hope to have gotten all that was needed for each student into their labeled bags, inevitably we will find that something was misplaced along the way. We will do the very best that we can to make sure that your child receives all that they need, and should you notice anything that is missing, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and I will do my very best to help.
Materials Pick-Up and Drop Off
Next week, we welcome families to come to the Hansen to pick up student supplies and drop off school supplies that are currently at home. Please see the information below and be aware that these plans may be subject to change pending the Governor’s updates and Town guidance.

- We ask that you have the first and last name and room number/teacher name of your child on a paper displayed on the dashboard.
- Please pull into the Hansen campus, and into the front circle, closest to the Main Entrance.
- Staff will greet you, and your child's belongings will be brought from inside the school to be placed in your trunk. Please do not exit your vehicle.
- If you have items to drop off (library books or classroom items), there will be bins further ahead near the drop-off entrance. Staff will direct you!
- Chromebook returns will be separate.
Our goal is to provide a smooth traffic flow and not clog up Pecunit Street. If the pick up time is not convenient, please contact me and we can make other arrangements. Also if you have more than one child, please choose the scheduled time most convenient for your family, and you will be able to collect all belongings at one time.

Chromebook Drop-Off
As the school year is coming to a close, I want to provide you with the details for the upcoming student loaner Chromebook collection. This collection is for any Chromebook that was loaned to students for either the school closure/remote learning deployment or the Canton High School Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. I sincerely hope that access to a device provided support to your child during this school year and specifically during school closure.
We have scheduled the return dates for the loaned devices as follows:
Tuesday, June 23rd 12 pm - 2 pm
Wednesday, June 24th 10 am - 12 pm
Thursday, June 25th 8 am - 10 am
The collection will take place at Canton High School and we will be using a similar format for collection as we did for distribution.
Pull into the main loop at Canton High School (entrance by the tennis courts). Place a sign in the passenger window with the name(s) of each of your children that borrowed a Chromebook. Please have the Chromebook(s) AND charger(s) accessible in your trunk. A staff member will retrieve it upon your arrival.
All borrowed Chromebooks and chargers must be returned to Canton Public Schools on one of the collection dates listed above.
Lastly, I would like to publicly thank the Technology and Digital Learning Team for all their hard work. They prepared and deployed over 550 Chromebooks to our students and offered support to students and families, as well as staff, during these last few months. I am incredibly proud to work with such an amazing group of staff members committed to supporting our school community.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our staff at cpstechhelp@cantonma.org.
Thank you and have a wonderful summer!
Best,
Julie Shore
