What are Vets?
They care for, vaccinate, and groom your pets!
Daily Task
- Treat sick or injured animals, prescribe medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or even performing surgery.
- Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
- Provide care to a wide range of animals.
- Inoculate animals against various diseases such as rabies or distemper.
- Advise owners regarding sanitary measures, feeding, general care, medical conditions, or treatment options.
Degreees, Certificates, and Training Required
You are required to have your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and State Admission Degree. You must take Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and Animal Nutrition with many other classes. Lastly you will need to submit your test scores for :
- Graduate Records Examinations
- Veterinary Collage Admission
- Medical Collage Admission
Working Conditions
They work in private offices or clinics. Practice often and work long hours. Sometimes will have to deal with emotional or demanding pet owners. When working with animals that are in pain or frightened, vets risk getting kicked, bitten, scratched. Making time to respond to emergencies and squeeze in unexpected appointments.
