Scatter Plots

Scatter plots are a set of points that don't connect to form a line.

  • Positive association-points form a pattern that increases
  • Negative association-points form a patter that decreases
  • No association-points don't form a pattern

The trend line is a straight line that comes closest to all the points in the scatter plot.

To choose the trend line:

  • Pick the straight line that best fits the data.
  • This is the line that is closest to as many points as possible.
