Students Finding Their Voices - Student Leadership
This week was filled with opportunity! More that 40 of our Lietz Lions stepped out and ran for student council. Their brave, confident, and caring speeches that were presented in classes were fantastic, and I am so glad I didn't have to vote! Each class chose there representatives, and they have already met to start making Lietz a better place. They have all accomplished a lot by adding their voices to the community and showing up as leaders on the campus. I am so proud of all of the students that ran for class representative and there are many other opportunities for students to share their voice and become part of the legacy of supporting and serving others that has been the history here at Lietz.
We had a group of 4th and 5th grade students also sit on our district student advisory council. They were able to share what they liked most about school and their hopes for making school the best place it can be. Our district Superintendent, Dr. Carrie Andrews, Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. Sarah Jellin, and district L&I Directors, Heather Scharer and Annie Murphy, listened to the students and gave them a chance to share their hopes and suggestions., and encouraged them to go and gather ideas from their classmates.
Finally, students in grades 4 and 5 will be getting the opportunity to lead as recess leaders. Students have an opportunity to support each other and lead the younger Lietz Lions, is a great way for students to find their voice and show their PAWS to help all of our students have a great experience on the playground.
We look forward to amplifying the voices of our students as we look to the future. Our present and future leaders are currently making a difference here at Lietz! I look forward to being able to highlight their accomplishments in the coming months.
