Go, Mountain Lions, Go!

Dear Madison Families,

My name is Emily Tasch, and I hold the role of VP-Membership. The other PTA officers and I would love your support this school year. Whether it is through volunteering, joining us at Madison events, or by generous donations, your involvement helps enrich our children’s learning environment and builds a stronger community for us all.

We are off to a great start with PTA membership registration. It is not too late to join if you haven’t already! You can access it by going to our Madison PTA page and clicking on the blue PTA Registration bar. Our organization is 100% funded through memberships and generous donations from our Madison community. With past funds, we helped the school make larger purchases including playground equipment and the gym rock wall. I am pleased to say we have new and exciting updates ahead!

In addition to the in-school benefits, your $20.00 annual membership gives you access to DirectorySpot for the 2022-2023 school year. This directory includes a class list of students by teacher/grade as well as families’ contact information, which is updated now! We hope this will provide a network to help engage families within our Madison community. If the membership fee is not in your budget, please email me at membership@madisonschoolpta.org so we can help.

Another great way to get involved is by signing up for various volunteering opportunities by using our Sign Up Genius form. We are always looking for more hands to help with the school’s Beautification Committee, Art Appreciation, Battle of the Books, and much more!

I am often at school drop off or pick up with my second grader and kindergartener, Luke and Ben, so look for me if you have any questions or concerns or send me an email. I look forward to meeting you and working together!

All the best,

Emily Tasch

Wishes Fulfilled for Madison Teachers, Thanks to Community Donations

Because of your generous donations to the Madison PTA through our fundraising efforts (like the Fun Run!), we were recently able to grant $7,300 worth of teacher wish list items (also known as Functional Needs Requests)!!

These items were granted to approximately 20 staff members and included items such as books for classrooms and the LLC, reading subscriptions, educational board games, chair pockets, recess equipment, storage containers and much more.

Thank you for helping to support our teachers!!

SMILE and Help Madison While You Shop!

Aside from Madison's individual fundraising efforts, there are easy ways you can help support the PTA, all year long while you shop online and for groceries.

Shopping on Amazon? Consider Amazon Smile

Make Madison PTA your AmazonSmile charitable organization! Did you know that Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to a charity of your choice? For more information go HERE and search "Madison PTA" as your choice.

Every quarter, we get a payout from Amazon for the purchases YOU made through Amazon Smile supporting Madison's PTA. In September 2022, the PTA received $72. The highest payout ever received was $81 in February 2021. Can we beat it? YES WE CAN! Use Amazon Smile for all of your Amazon purchases! Check back next quarter for the results!

Record High: $81

Last Quarter: $72

Next Quarter: $??

Help with Box Tops for Education

Scan your grocery receipt in the Box Tops app, and Madison will earn 10 cents from every qualifying item. Download the app.

Volunteers Wanted for Kids Conservation Club

The Go Green Committee is seeking volunteers to assist once a month during lunch/recess time with a Conservation Club for kids. In the past the students have helped make lunchtime practices more earth friendly as well as earn an Earth Flag through SCARCE by promoting conservation at Madison. We'd love to have some new ideas and new parents help get the club going again.

If you're interested in conservation and want to volunteer please email Lisa Thomas at gogreen@madisonschoolpta.org.

PTA Reflections Program

Information and entry forms for the PTA Reflections Program were sent home with students this week. The theme for this year's program is "Show Your Voice" and the entry categories are dance, film, literature, music, photography, and special artist.

Student entries from D200 that are selected to advance to the DuPage West Region will be honored at an awards ceremony in the winter. Students throughout the country whose work advances to the top national-level can receive prizes and scholarships and have their work showcased and exhibited.

For any student with an interest in the creative arts, this is a great way to "Show Your Voice!" Any questions can be directed to Lesley Feinsot, Reflections Chair at lesleydstephan@yahoo.com.
