Principal's message - week 31
Greetings North Plains Hawks!
It has definitely been an interesting day! We lost power about 7:30 and it came back on about 11:45. Unfortunately all of our phones went out as well and we didn't have the ability to communicate with you. Hopefully we are past the worst and you can all have a great weekend!
TONIGHT!! At 6:30 PM will be "the Art of the Story" here at NPES, brought to you by the NP library. The storyteller is nationally recognized and not only tells stories but shares dancing and cultural experiences with the audience. It should be a great time and I hope you can come!
April 18 there will be an opportunity for you to purchase spring pictures! Packets will go home next week and photos will only be taken of students who bring back the packets with money to purchase. Grades K-5 will be called down beginning at 8:00 AM, and when that is complete, all 6th grade students will have their photos taken so they can be used for the 6th grade promotion certificates. Again, only students in k-5 who bring back packets for purchase will be photographed, but all 6th graders will get photos taken so they can be used on the promotion certificate. if you are willing and able to volunteer that morning, please sign up using the following link. We only need a couple of people. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4caca92aa64-picture
Remember, the spring book fair is coming up next week and will be open at various times. We still need volunteers to help! Please contact Ryan Kind (503-333-1974 or visit the volunteer website at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040B4cAcA92AA64-spring1
Attention 6th grade parents! Monday the 10th is the incoming 7th grade orientation at Evergreen Middle School. I hope you can attend and learn more about Evergreen! Students will be forecasting for classes next Wednesday here at NPES.
Have a great weekend - stay safe!
Becky

Classroom volunteers needed: Are you interested in working with the young ones in the classroom? We are really in need of some parent volunteers to come be an extra support in the kinder and 1st grade classrooms. This does NOT mean you need to have a child in this class, in fact it is often better if you don't! But if you have some time and enjoy working with the little ones, please let me know and we will plug you in to help!
After school help needed: You may not know that all schools are given funds to support STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities after school. We've had a variety of activities in the past and are working on this year's line up. We are in need of people to supervise and lead activities after school. Some ideas include a 4-6 grade math club, dance team (intro level of course), drama, choir, science activities, language classes, pretty much anything you can think of we could tie into STE(A)M. Please let me know if there is something you might be interested in.
Box Tops: Remember that we are still collecting box tops! There is a bin inside the main entrance, so feel free to drop them by any time! Thank you to Laura Moradi for taking the lead on box tops again this year!
