Pratt's Primary Corner
Weekly Update- February 9, 2017
Week at a Glance
Math- We're crossing the finish line with Unit 4!! Yahoooo!!! I didn't anticipate it taking this long, but through our assessments I realized we needed to spend a lot more time on 2 step word problems and comparing fractions. Today we played a fun game with fractions called "Tic-Tac-Fracto."
Science- We started our E4Tech Unit on circuits. Students are loving it so far! We started by exploring the game "Operation" and investigating materials that conduct electricity and those that don't. In 4th grade students will learn a lot more about circuits, our focus this year is just using the circuits to identify whether energy is present.
Writing- We're continuing our informational writing unit and I introduced a rubric to students this week. Based on the rubric students looked at what they have so far and set goals, as well as celebrated parts of their writing they're proud of. We had so much to celebrate!! :)

Bridges Home Connection
If you are wondering why this is just now coming home it is because I wanted to teach the units and lessons before sending it home. Skill practice was included in the homework menus that have been coming home weekly.
