School Communication

The school and your child's teacher will be emailing you a newsletter each week to keep you informed of what is going on school-wide and in your child's individual classes. These newsletters are also a great resource if you have a question about upcoming events. Emails are sent to the parent or guardian who is listed in the CFISD registration paperwork as Guaridan 1. Please check to see if you are or your child's other guardian are receiving these weekly emails and contact Rennell@cfisd.net if you are not so that we can update your email address in our official school records. Additionally, we share lots of pictures, reminders, and updates via our social media channels. Please follow Rennell on your favorite channel! Thank you for ensuring you are getting our communications!

Transportation Reminders

We know that transportation has been delayed and a challenge this week. We have been meeting with our neighbors at Anthony Middle School and CFISD's transportation department to troubleshoot and brainstorm how we can make arrival and dismissal run smoother for our families.

Afternoon Transportation Information:

Our district updated our afternoon transportation from last year to include more buses with fewer students on each bus in an effort to speed up bus routes and get students home more quickly. This week our buses experienced large delays due to streets being blocked by car rider lines blocking the roads near many of our campuses across the district. Busses ran practice routes during the two weeks prior to school starting and clocked all students being dropped at home within 25 minutes of each school’s dismissal time (for Rennell, home by 3:55 or sooner!). Busses are expected to reach these optimal times before the end of this week. Car rider times are entirely dependent on how many parents choose to pick up their child by car and how well students know their car rider numbers. Please consider switching your child to bus rider to get them home quickly and alleviate the long car rider lines.

Car Rider Reminders:

If you pick your child up by car rider in the afternoon, please remember not to arrive to Rennell or line up in our driveway prior to 3:30pm. Our neighbors at Anthony Middle School use our shared driveway for their car rider dismissal from 3:10-3:30. If Rennell parents get in line too soon, we end up blocking the way and slowing down Anthony’s dismissal – which then slows down our car rider dismissal at Rennell, as well. Please help us work together as a community to ensure all of our students are picked up in a timely manner by not arriving to pick up Rennell students prior to 3:30. Thank you so much for your help! We really hope this will help speed things along for both schools!

If your child is a hiker/biker, please pack an umbrella or rain jacket as their transportation will not change unless the weather is severe. If there is severe weather, we will send an email and text message alerting hiker/biker parents that their students have been changed to car riders due to the severe weather. As a reminder, this exit is for students who are walking or riding their bikes home only. This is not for cars to park and meet their child to drive home. All children going home by car should be CAR RIDERS for the safety of all students.

We appreciate your patience with our end-of-day transportation this week. We know it took a lot of extra time this week, as we are working on teaching students procedures as well as checking and re-checking that we are sending all of your students home the right way.

Change of transportation:

If you need to make a one-day change in transportation OR a permanent change in transportation for your child, please email Rennell@cfisd.net.
